Fraud? Is it a question of how the money is being used or how it is acquired?

Exactly. Cameron could be the guy that finally gets Capone Monson

Maybe it is an income equality thing? I admit I don't understand European Socialism although President Obama is doing a good job of trying to teach me.

In Europe do the rich churches have to redistribute to the poorer churches? Perhaps the Church hasn't been reporting it's real income and defrauded the poorer churches.

The Steve Young thing was way better.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I hope he shows up. It would be a great addition to the scriptures.

For the Church. Reports that President Monson was served in a fraud case, even one like this, are very bad. Your average person out there does not have the education, context, or inclination to look into a "story" like this in any depth. Journalists, who don't exactly love the LDS Church by and large, will frame the thing as they see fit. And worse, this sort of thing fits nicely into old tropes and stereotypes about Mormons.

I don't think this is the Nauvoo Expositor revisited, but in PR terms this isn't good. In legal terms, I assume the Church's army of lawyers will do everything they can to make even this summons go away.

If the jail in which he was residing were blown asunder I might reconsider my current position.

Remind me again why ex-mo's care about LDS legal strategy?

                            This is lame.

I read this on another site, first time I'd heard it:

The BOM has long been published with the testimonies of the witnesses to the gold plates. But per the fairly recent Joseph Smith Papers Project website, the testimony of the 8 witnesses bears 8 signatures that are clearly all in the same handwriting. The church's response to this is that they only have the printer's version of the witnesses' testimony and the original must have been lost.
