Brother Reid finally tunes in...
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid hasn't been very vocal about the cattle battle showdown in recent days, but says "it's not over."
Reid tells News4's Samantha Boatman his take on the so-called cattle battle in southern Las Vegas. "Well, it's not over. We can't have an American people that violate the law and then just walk away from it. So it's not over," Reid said.
Senator Reid made his comments after the unveiling of four brand new battery-electric buses for the RTC fleet.
Amen, Brother Reid, amen.
In other news about Brother Reid:
Reid campaign cash paid to granddaughter hits $31,000
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s troubles deepened Thursday when it was revealed that his campaign bought $31,000 worth of jewelry from his granddaughter — nearly twice the amount he previously acknowledged.
The money went to Ryan Elisabeth Reid, the daughter of Reid’s son Rory. On campaign disclosure forms, her name was listed as “Ryan Elisabeth.”
Reporters began combing through Reid’s 2012 campaign filings after discovering payments of nearly $17,000 to his 23-year-old granddaughter in 2013 for jewelry that was to be handed out as “holiday gifts.”
The 2012 forms uncovered two more payments to the young woman, who runs a jewelry business, for $9,064 and $5,000.
[…]
On Tuesday, the Nevada Democrat announced he would reimburse his campaign for the first $17,000 uncovered by the press. After the earlier round of payments became public, Reid said he’d repay those as well.
He also lashed out at reporters, saying, “My granddaughter has been the target of harassing phone calls, strangers tracking her down and knocking on her door and negative, unwanted attention on the Internet.”
“This has gone too far and it needs to stop now,” Reid said in a statement to the Las Vegas Review Journal, which first reported on his campaign’s dealings with his grandchild.
[…]
That was nice of Brother Reid to give his free spirit granddaughter $31,000 to support the arts even if it was campaign donations. Brother Reid is just looking out for our best interests and that of the little turtles. Now let's all just let Brother Reid pay back this money and walk away."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

The article mentions that "in 1997 . . . active grazing permits in tortoise habitat were purchased by Clark County under the Clark County Multi-Species Habitat Conservation Program. Mr. Bundy rejected a tentative proposal to compensate him for any stockwater rights or range improvements he might have in his former allotment. It should be noted that all other ranchers who grazed in the Bunkerville allotment did accept the compensation and have been complying with federal law and the agencies enforcing it" ?
Or is this a different issue/episode?
Second, the article says Bundy was offered compensation for his improvements, but that's only a small portion of the value of the grazing permit. Further, even if they did offer to buy his permit, the price was likely based on the capacity after the cut in AUM's and not before. The ranchers who accepted the compensation likely figured something was better than nothing, and took the money despite feeling cheated. My concern with this whole mess is that it will bring the Federal Lands issue onto the radar of the Obama Administration. Clinton was an absolute disaster in this respect, but Obama has thus far had bigger fish to fry, and we've been left alone. If Obama starts sticking his nose into this, he could make things a lot worse.sigpic

First, the Taylor Grazing Act specifically prohibits the retirement of grazing permits. They can be revoked by the Feds for non-compliance, but they cannot be purchased and retired. This was specifically included in the act to keep activist groups from forcing ranchers out of business by buying permits and retiring them. As an aside, that rule is in the process of changing with new legislation, so permittees can 'voluntarily' retire their permits. As a result, a rancher in Arizona has already received a letter from an environmental group telling him to retire his permit or they will sue him out of business.

Armed with detailed measures for land use under a new plan, the BLM began designating wild land areas with the assistance of the public planning process (PPP).
This set off warning bells to ranchers who believed this scheme was intending to destroy rural communities.
Those fears were confirmed with the released of leaked documents outlining how the Obama administration had chosen 14 sites in 9 states “for possible presidential monument declarations.”
Areas in states that were given this special designation include:
Colorado
Utah
New Mexico
California
Arizona
Oregon
Washington State
Nevada
One purpose for this land-grab initiative appears to be for the undisturbed agenda of oil corporations with the deal struck in 2003 that allowed the removal of “protections for 2.6 million acres” in Utah in order that “drilling, mining and other commercial uses” on this protected land could go on.
In addition to the wild land designation initiative, the Obama administration is also behind the secretary of the Interior, Sally Jewell’s announcement that “two solar energy projects located near the Nevada-California border that are expected to supply 550 megawatts of renewable energy, enough to power about 170,000 homes, and support more than 700 jobs through construction and operations.”

However, there may be a silver lining in all of this for you, Cowboy...
Beef prices hit record high
Beef prices are at a record high, and the cost of other staples, such as milk, butter, eggs, fruit and vegetables are climbing. With a severe drought ravaging farms across most of California, prices are at risk of shooting significantly higher this year.

Sounds like the BLM and those hired "Cowboys" did a fine job of protecting the land and Bundy's cattle..
The feds, though, are being accused of taking the court orders way too far.
On a Friday night conference call, BLM officials told reporters that "illegal structures" on Bundy's ranch -- water tanks, water lines and corrals -- had to be removed to "restore" the land to its natural state and prevent the rancher from restarting his illegal cattle operation.
However, the court order used to justify the operation appears only to give the agency the authority to "seize and impound" Bundy's cattle.
"Nowhere in the court order that I saw does it say that they can destroy infrastructure, destroy corrals, tanks ... desert environment, shoot cattle," Houston said.
Bundy's friends say the BLM wranglers told them the bulls were shot because they were dangerous and could gore their horses. One bull was shot five times.
But Houston said the pen holding the bull wasn't even bent. "It's not like the bull was smashing this pen and trying tackle people or anything," he said. "The pen is sitting here. It hasn't moved. No damage whatsoever. Where was the danger with that bull?"
Plus he said BLM vehicles appear to have crushed a tortoise burrow near the damaged water tank. "How's that conservation?" he asked.
The BLM has not yet responded to a request for comment on these allegations.

Harry Reid chimes in more (Does he not get it? He is looking bad in all of this..)..
During a ‘Hashtags & Headlines’ event at the Paris Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Reid referred to Bundy supporters as “Nothing more than domestic terrorists,” adding, “I repeat: what happened there was domestic terrorism.”
