I'm confused by this discussion, beards are not only allowed at BYU but in many ways encouraged.

Ha, well done. That was funny.

          • I know this may be a bit gauche, but I do want to point out that no matter how shitty BYU police department may have acted at least they didn’t let a student athlete get murdered by a paroled felon due to sheer incompetence. I think that’s worse than whatever BYU cops did so I’ll have to cede that when it comes to shitty campus police Utah is #1.

              ". . . . when it comes to shitty ________ Utah is #1."

              Brilliant!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

                • BYU publicly responds to the decertification issue.

                  https://news.byu.edu/sites/default/f...ity-police.pdf

Seems very different from what was blasted all over the news & social media a few weeks ago. Looks like Commissioner Anderson grossly overstepped his bounds here, but digging through the details requires some nuance and a few minutes of reading, so I doubt this will get much of a response.

There's always two sides to every story.

There's a process for this to be adjudicated, and we're now hearing the other side to the story. I agree with The Dude, that Commissioner Anderson is out of line. Sounds like he has an ax to grind. Probably a ute.

Still, it's a troubling story, and is counterproductive by driving a wedge between the University Police and the students they work to serve. Hopefully the internal changes they made will prevent this from happening again in the future.

Maybe if BYU starts allowing gay police officers on the force then the decision of decertification will be reversed?

What is wrong with letting the city of Provo flip the bill for providing police for the campus? Provo benefits greatly economically from having the BYU campus there. They need to step up and pay for those 30+ cops, etc. Cough up the money Provo!

All of that is also written from a BYU advocacy standpoint, so it needs to be considered in that light too.

Well it alleges certain facts. Either they occurred or they didn't.
