  • I started Les Miserables (one of the abridged versions), and I'm about 200 pages in. I told my wife I have to finish it before we go see the movie.

So far, I've really enjoyed the book.

The most recent in a series of Icelandic mysteries featuring a detective who lost his brother in a winter blizzard in early adolescence and continues to search for meaning in his life and his cases. Dark and mysterious - some knowledge of Icelandic geography would be helpful.

I started last night. Also one of the abridged versions. I'm hoping to finish before seeing the movie, but we'll see.

I'm loving it. It's a perfect book to read by my fireplace in the evenings. Twain's wit just doesn't let up.

Not bad, a fun quick read - If you like John Corey books, you'll enjoy this, if you don't you won't.

This is set in Yemen about 3 yrs after the Cole bombing. It is full of double and triple crosses. Paul Brenner, from the General's Daughter, makes an appearence, but this is entirely from John Corey's viewpoint.

currently reading on that someone recommended in this thread, I don't have enough time to check who did

                    Finally got to this one.

                    I really liked it.

It was different from the standard military life story, with details of mistakes made early in his life, and how he came correct and climbed all the way to SEAL team 6.

                    • Finished The Big Scrum - not bad. It looks at the growth of team sports in general and football in particular in the last half to the 19th century. The elites did not see much use for team sports at all - football in particular.

I think the title is a little bit of false advertising - TR was a fan of football and did have a big conference with the leading people in football about their problems esp deaths, but he really didn't do anything. Ir was an interesting reading with the backdrop of what is going on in football today with the with concussion proplems

                      Interesting read.

I also read the 6th book of David Weber's Safehold series

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Highly recommend this spy series featuring art restorer and Israeli agent Gabriel Allon. This was one of the best of the series.

Liked it a lot. Big book, and better than Under the Dome.

Before that I read a book by Ruth Rendell. Portobello. I did like it. I guess she writes mysteries and has written a lot of books, but I had never heard of her before I picked up this book for 2 bucks. I would easily read other books by her. Liked her writing style.

                              • I finally finished a Dance with Dragons. Definitely an improvement on a Feast for Crows but not up to the standard of the first 3 books. Here is that GRRM releases the next book before he dies of a heart attack.
