    • OMG!... Drumpf wants to let teachers carry guns!!! Doesn't he know that guns kill people?!?

Gun free zones saves lives!.. Look at the data:

The number of incidents doubled for some unrelated reason, I am sure.

Tide pod phenom is an apt comparison.

                • As I recall, there are about 3,000,000 schoolteachers in the U.S. If only 10% of that number were to start carrying at school, I wonder if the introduction of that many weapons among millions of curious kids won't result in a larger number of deaths and injuries than those caused by these mass school shootings. Through occasional lapses in attention, cops have their weapons stolen and misused; can we expect better fiream security from schoolteachers?

Interesting. NPR reporting an arrest in CA of 2 brothers who had threatened a school shooting. A search of their home found, among other weapons, 2 AR-15 rifles.

Since they would have the same firearm handling training as SRO's, I suppose it would be the same number of accidental deaths as if SRO's were increased. Of all the arguments against allowing teachers to carry, I worry about this the least.

If you read the journal of the kid that was planning a shooting, he spent a lot of time thinking about how to take out the SRO first. This is a pretty compelling anecdote that bolsters the argument for more armed people in the facility. The policy currently being considered in the neighboring district includes a provision that the identity of approved carrying personnel is confidential and known only by the administration and law enforcement. There is some discussion about firearm location, but I think they lean toward some sort of lock box or at least a trigger lock mechanism.

None of them have to actually pack weapons... just the idea that one of them might have a gun should be a significant deterrent. "Crazies" are crazy but not stupid. The idea of the possibility that one teacher (most likely that Nazi gym teacher) will put a damper in his (or her) "blaze of glory" prematurely may be enough for the crazy to pick another venue to shoot up. Maybe the DNC headquarters or some place where they still believe that a "gun free zone" sign is all they need.

Of course, gun control ("gun free America") can be easily implemented in five simple steps... So why are we even talking about arming teachers?
