Seriously, you shouldn't celebrates someone's layoff because they are a union member. That is petty.

I'd rather not see layoffs, because that means the economy is going down the drain. But I say that because unions are one of the reasons that Obama was reelected and they should reap what they sow.

No doubt they played a role, but not as big a one as people like Glenn Beck suggest. Obama hasn't come through as a great pro-labor president, one of the primary reasons I voted third party. Keep in my mind about 1/3 of union members are Republican.

How many of those Republicans are in unions because they are required to be in the union? I'd think it would be a safe bet that if all states were right to work, union membership in both parties, but in the GOP in particular, would be a lot lower.

I still stand by my point that unions should have to suffer the consequences of their choices, particularly when those choices affect everyone. That said, you and I will never agree about this, but that's okay. I wouldn't like you more if you weren't pro-union.

I think it is still about a third, regardless. The GOP needs to coalition build to remain relevant. You are onto something. Union leadership, especially the presidents can be pretty damn hateable people. I'm not a giant Hoffa Jr. fan. He is bad as most politicians.

Of course people who belong to unions want their interests protected, because they don't give a crap about the collateral damage they cause to the rest of the economy as long as they get theirs.

I'm not sure I quite follow you Harry. Drug dealers, rapists, and pedophiles are acting in what they believe is their own best interest. That doesn't make their actions worthy of respect no matter how pragmatist you want to get. Unions actually fit quite nicely in that group of bedfellows.
