The best thing we’ve done to meet and become friends with our neighbors is hand out drinks on Halloween.

In the past we would walk the neighborhood with a radio flyer full of drinks and hand out treats to adults, now I post up in my front yard with he Radio Flyer and shoot the breeze as groups come by. We live in a cul de sac so the parents stop at our house while the kids ToT the other houses.

One of my favorite nights of the year.

I gotta say- this Trunk or Treat phenomenon is lame. I know it's like a million times more convenient for parents, but man I had a fantastic time as a kid actually trick or treating. I don't know if I'd even be excited to trunk or treat if I was over the age of 6.

Dude, trunk or treat is in addition to trick or treating. Plus the kids come to my office for trick or treating a different day. Halloween is spreading throughout the week!
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Our ward did trunk-or-treat as a service project by the ym/yw. They set up booths and did different things like taking kids for wagon rides around the parking lot, cooking scones, fish pond, etc.

Our Ward's ToT always brings out the non-members. But in recent years it has gotten completely out of hand. For example, last month almost 4 dozen non-members showed up to the Ward ToT. Of course, candy given to non-member kids is candy not given to member kids. Really getting tired of the outsiders taking away candy from the member kids; this will not stand, man! Thinking about starting a documentation process to award invitations to the Ward ToT in future years, perhaps via a lottery process. If that doesn't work, we'll have to build a fence.

A wall. You'll need to build a wall. And make the non-members pay for it.

He built the costume himself, including leg and arm stilts, a mechanical moving skull, and full sound inside the costume. It was incredible. They walked the neighborhood for over an hour, interacting with all of the kids, then hung out in front of the garage and scared the older kids that were still coming around.
Pics just don't do that costume justice. They can't convey that he was like 8 feet tall and moved like a praying mantis. Really impressive costume.
