Yes! A nod to the team that got the latest dynasty rolling....Van, Jones, Eldon, Shaq, Kobe, Fish. Nick the Quick loved to Bring Down the Roof in opposing gyms. Unfortunately, he also loved Cancun.

Let me just say...as a Jazz fan, I feel your pain. I'm just glad he's your problem now.

      • Thank goodness the folks on Inside the NBA skewered the Lakers for their on/off switch mentality. I agree with the Chuckster.....Game 6 could tell us if this team is finally going to get serious.

They lost 1 game against the Jazz.
They seem to be on track to lose 2 to Houston.
The Denver matchup is going to be brutal if the Lakers take a nap during any point in the series. Chauncey Billups is not Aaron Brooks.

I keeping wanting a lamp or a camera to fall on Chris Webber and injure him permanently, but the truth is that he is actually pretty good on camera and very likeable. Kenny came out of nowhere when he was cast for Inside the NBA and he has done a great job. But Webber has been a total shock....he is fairly articulate, he makes cogent observations, and he is interesting. Also, he freely admits that the Lakers are the most talented team in the league. He has it all!

That article is funny. That's why I love Kobe. In fact, if you guard me and I cross you over or pump fake and put you in popcorn popper, I'll look back at you, give an audible "pffffft" with a head shake and then hit the jumper - 50% of the time.

MJ did the same thing. So what? Some guys like MJ and Kobe need that anger or feeling to get an advantage. Sports are a mental game just as much as a physical one. MJ and Kobe would even fabricate hate to push them. You and this lame author are reaching.

I think you are actually a fan of Kobe. You were defending him recently, weren't you?

When you understand that this was a must-win game for the Lakers, it's clear why certain players did what they did last night. Fisher's bull rush into Scola while on defense? Had to set the tone. Kobe's elbow to Ron Artest's throat? Just what you gotta do in playoff basketball.
I agree with your assessment. This is playoff basketball!

JohnnyLingo's hatred is really a self-loathing as as result of the Utah Jazz. He has already written about his bitterness towards the Jazz for their losing ways. He also says this, which is about as tacit an admission of Little Brother Syndrome as you can get:

As the Jazz decided to be terrible this year and underachieve like me in my freshman year of college, the best way for me to find fulfillment in this year's playoffs is the Lakers failing to win it all.
JohnnyLingo underachieved in college? How do you underachieve in Idaho?

Hey, to each his own. You like Kobe because he acts like a prick on the court (because apparently you act the same way), while I do not. Everyone is different. No two people are not on fire.

The difference betwen MJ and Kobe is huge: MJ wasn't arrogant; Kobe is. MJ was likeable; Kobe isn't.

I love these articles. The more the Lakers and Kobe are in the news, the better. It only makes the team more popular and frustrates the Laker haters even more. I want more Lakers....all Lakers, all the time. Write about Kobe being a jerk. Write about Buss getting a DUI. Write about Jax burning incense. Who cares? Just keep writing about the Lakers.

Kobe is bulletproof. A few years after Colorado and what happens this season? His jerseys are the top sellers (yet again) and the Lakers are the top road draw (yet again). This Lakers thread is the most viewed on CUF, and by a huge margin! JohnnyLingo's blog is basically one long running commentary on the Lakers. Everyone loves talking about the Los Angeles Lakers

Clearly, the media knows what it is doing by writing all the time about the Lakers. The Lakers are big business for everyone....the media, the Association, the City of Los Angeles, and for every team in the NBA that sells out when they come into town.

If this is the best the media has.....that Kobe scowls after he makes a basket......no problem. As long as they are talking about the Lakers, that is all that matters.

On a side note, the title of the article is ironic given the author's pic.

Besides his teammates that hated him, the ownership that wanted him gone at the end of it all, and other players in the league that established Jordan rules to pound him into the ground, I would say that EPU is pretty accurate.

I get it now... your own narcissism also applies to your love for the Lakers.

You love yourself so much you think you deserve constant attention. As such, you act out to get it. So obviously the NBA team you love also deserves this constant attention.

                                Huh.
