I wanted to see the Peter Jackson film "West of Memphis". Peter and his wife funded most of the forensic testing to free the West Memphis Three.

I guess Damien Echols and Jason Baldwin were in sundance at the premier. Echols was on death row for 18 years and spent 24 hours a day in a 9x10 cell. He did not see Sunlight for 14 1/2 years nad now has to wear blue tinted glasses due to the light.

Here is an article about it: http://www.montrealgazette.com/enter...842/story.html

Still haven't made it up there just yet - weather made that impossible over the weekend. But like I said, hopefully I will have a great story to bring you all...

Do they still do the free concerts at the bottom of Main there during Sundance? That was always a good time if it wasn't too cold.

We saw Why We Fight director Eugene Jarecki's new film The House I Live In last night. Wow. It is a far-reaching documentary about the tragic failure and general futility of the War on Drugs. As far as literally changing perceptions and opening eyes, this was one of the most powerful documentaries I've seen. Just incredibly moving, frustrating and anger-inducing in equal measures.

Jarecki and a few of the subjects of the doc were there for a short but fascinating Q&A after the film. I'm saying there's no way this doesn't win Best Doc in the Festival this year and I'm sure it will eventually be playing in theaters around the country. I highly recommend it.
Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

Man, that's a lot of movies.

Others I thought looked interesting were Detropia, Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare, & The Other Dream Team,
How was Bones Brigade?? It looks pretty good. I grew up in this era so.

              Here's the Trailer:

When I looked at the list of tickets that my wife had I didn't realize that she had picked some up for friends. I was excited to see Bones Brigade until she told me the tickets were for some friends of ours .

Last night we saw Finding North, a documentary about hunger in the US. I thought they did a good job of focusing on a problem that is more widespread than I would have thought, including a discussion about agro-politics and solutions to the problem. One of the directors is married to Tom Colicchio, one of the judges from Top Chef, who has been involved in trying to improve the federal school lunch program.

As a side note, the music for the film was done by T-Bone Burnett and The Civil Wars, including a couple of original songs.

That sucks... I was looking forward to how the documentary was.. The trailer is pretty cool.. Love the storyline of Tony Hawk vs. Christian Hosoi..

Last night we saw Shadow Dancer from the oscar-winning director of Man on Wire and Project Nim, James Marsh. Unlike his previous documentaries, this is a feature film about a young IRA woman in 90's Belfast. She is apprehended by British intelligence and given the choice of spying on her IRA brothers or go to jail for 25 years.

The pacing of the movie was deliberate but intense, and the lack of dialogue adds to the build-up at key scenes. Lead actress Andrea Riseborough portrays her character with calculated emotion that is so believable. The cinematography was great with muted colors that gave a realistic re-creation of 90's Northern Ireland.

I really liked the movie. My wife and I talked about it the rest of the evening and today. We both have different theories/thoughts about how it ended.

Also Hottie, what's going on? Do you have a story for us? A buddy of mine hung out at a party with Paris Hilton until 5am the other night.

You forgot to tell us what the IRA woman did for her 25 year jail sentance. Just be a member of the IRA?

She was caught trying to put a bomb on the London underground.

Have you watched any of the Paradise Lost docs? I saw #1 and I guess I didn't realize there was even a #2 until #3 was on HBO a week or so ago.

I watched Paradise Lost 2 and 3 over the weekend on HBOGo. Wow, what a series of movies. I would like to see the Peter Jackson one, but I'm going to have to wait. There is a lot of content in those that is difficult to digest.

Just thought I'd catch you all up - didn't even get up there. I know, I remain a disappointment to good Mormon girls who are desperate for a little bad here and there.
