Default Sheriff Joe Arpaio in the news again

Turns out his office has been prone to ignore reports of child sex abuse if it involved immigrant families (allegedly).

In El Mirage alone, officials discovered at least 32 reported child molestations — with victims as young as 2 years old — where the sheriff's office failed to follow through, even though suspects were known in all but six cases. Many of the victims, said a retired El Mirage police official who reviewed the files, were children of illegal immigrants.

I hope he is brought up on charges. I can't stand Sheriff Joe. The sooner he is gone the better for citizens of Maricopa County.

I'm not a Sherriff Joe hater, but if true, that's horrific.

85 years young! He might be the only politician you can count on to serve just one term.

Trump will back him. And Trump and Arpaio are both totally not racist at all.

Arpaio can't be racist, he has an ethnic name.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I'm not sure at all that he will. I'd think Trump is being told that backing Arpaio hurts not only the GOP's chances of retaining a seat in AZ, but hurts him nationally as well. I'd think there would be some back channel communications telling Joe, "Hey, you got your pardon, now go away and enjoy it. Seriously, go away."

Let us hope you are correct. Murderers need representation in Congress would be Joe’s campaign slogan.

Joe Arpaio to speak at GOP dinner, proving the GOP is coming unraveled
Arpaio will be the featured speaker at a Republican dinner in Nevada next month

The 85-year-old disgraced former sheriff is set to speak at the Lincoln Reagan Dinner and Fund Raiser on Feb. 18, at the Carson Valley Inn in Minden, Nevada, the Associated Press reported. The news arrives after Arpaio declared he is running for the U.S. Senate seat in Arizona, which will be up for grabs after Jeff Flake retires at the end of his term next year.

The Douglas County Republican Central Committee will host the annual dinner and Arpaio will speak during the VIP Reception, the AP reported.

Arpaio and Trump often appear in lock-step, especially when it comes to immigration and spreading conspiracy theories regarding former President Barack Obama's birth certificate. The president pardoned Arpaio, who was convicted of criminal contempt of court after defying a court order, in late August and has offered praise of Arpaio's controversial law enforcement career.
