One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

Just a quick note to publicly offer a heart felt thank you to one of CUF’s good sons: oxcoug. He was kind enough to offer me a place to stay this past week for a few days in the heart of Gotham. He is a genuinely generous and friendly soul. Also, I might add, I am grateful to be able to have made that connection here on the inter-webs.

Also, after browsing the board for a bit this place strikes me as a little stale in content. Here’s some cool art:

        Too cool not to share

        http://bombsight.org

The Bomb Sight project is mapping the London WW2 bomb census between 7/10/1940 and 06/06/1941. Previously available only by viewing in the Reading Room at The National Archives, Bomb Sight is making the maps available to citizen researchers, academics and students. They will be able to explore where the bombs fell and to discover memories and photographs from the period.

Unfortunately, we lost one of our best posters in that area. RIP Finderson

You think Jon McNaughton has his critics ...

... especially here on this Web site, but that's nothing compared to what this guy is dealing with:

Prince William’s wife Kate gets her first official portrait; artist gets slammed by critics:

I'm willing to bet the Duchess isn't in love with the result either.

So you're calling her a liar?

The Duchess of Cambridge seems to like her first official portrait, which is lucky for the artist. Many critics don’t.

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Calling who a liar? The person that wrote that blurb? Because I don't see a quote from Kate Middleton in there.

                        Did McNaughton paint that?

I think it is a brilliant portrait for the simple fact it is a thumb on the nose at the male gaze crazed masses.
