It is looking like we may see a showdown between one of the greatest evils in all of sports, the Detroit Red Wings, and the Chicago Blackhawks. This will be a true test of how far Bill Wirtz's death has improved the franchise.

Yep. When there isn't a hometown team, you just have to find a team to follow.

The free world fully and completely stands behind the winner of the Canucks/Blackhawks series in hopes of seeing the dragon slayed.

Patrick Kane has arrived. Gets the hat trick on an amazing goal.

Jonathan Toews has arrived as well, 2 goals in an elimination game.

It may not end this year, but this team is going to win a cup eventually. This team is very young and really damn good.

Kane's goal was unreal. Great hands.

All credit in the world to Dale Tallon, Rocky Wirtz, and Joel Quenneville. They've done a masterful job putting the pieces together and turning them into a team that's going to the WCF.

I'm pulling for the Hawks this year, knowing the Blues time will come soon.

Tallon does deserve a ton of credit. He drafted, signed, or traded for every player on this team. The team has come a long way since the Euro-Hawks abortion of Mike Smith and the heavy hand of Bob Pulford.

I thought you were pulling for the Caps...traitor.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

A Caps/Hawks Cup final would only result in happy thoughts and world peace, as far as I'm concerned. Anything to avoid a Wings/Pens final.

Seems that if the Caps can get by the Pens, Carolina would be a better matchup.

That's tough. I think I would agree, but if Ward and Staal continue to play like they are, they'll be extremely tough.

I'm fine with the Pens in the finals, but I just can't get excited about the Red Wings or Ducks.

I'm fine with anybody from the East, but Chicago really needs to make it to the SC finals.

I wonder what Willie Mitchell's thoughts on Patrick Kane's ability to play 5 on 5 are right now?

Division champs for the first time since 1993.

The Blackhawks and Caps are two teams with seriously talented forwards and defenses that are good enough (although the Hawks will miss Campell), but it's hard for me to have any faith in the goaltending. Huet and Niemi could combine to play well and lead the Hawks through the West, but they're just as likely to catch a hot goalie in the second round and flame out.

Jonathan Toews = Blackhawks Steve Yzerman. Toews isn't as good as a guys like Crosby and Ovechkin, but I'm not sure I would trade him for anyone in the NHL right now. He is a fantastic leader and the face of the franchise already. Toews is probably my favorite player to ever play for the Blackhawks and he is just starting his career. He is fantastic when the games matter most as demonstrated by being the best player in the Olympics and the best player in the Stanley Cup playoffs. He is going to win multiple cups with Chicago.

I'm not used to positive energy from you. This is jarring.

The fall of the Red Wings has really given you a positive outlook.
