Me, on the other hand...I learned long ago that I do not have the attention span for a 2 hour session, much less 5 of them over 2 days. It is way more effective for me to read the talks afterwards. Takes much less time overall and I can actually focus on one talk.
Fall Conference is especially bad because there are so many football games on Saturday. So I stopped pretending a few years ago and my Conference Weekends have been great ever since!
I am probably in the minority, I know, but I find conference weekend to be a bullet to the brain. Others speak of how "excited" they are for conference. I find it so difficult to get amped for it. One of the most boring events of the year for me. Sorry, just being honest.
One way to look at it though: What other time of the year can you sneak in 5 two hour naps?

Ironic that UtahDan will watch more conference than I will this weekend."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI think it is unusual, actually. You didnt spend much time on CG, but Conference weekend was typically one of the busiest weekends on the board. There was always a lot of posting/controversy/indignation/offense/defense/healing going on. That seems to have carried over to CUF.

As far as my "propensity for foul language" - whether you're just busting my chops or being serious, that comment hit home. I don't like that I swear from time to time, so consider this a turning point in that regard. No more foul language from this poster!
It should be noted I didn't give a time frame for abstaining from foul language.I'm like LeBron James.

Like Smokey, I am actually a little surprised at the tone in this thread. Is this just a religious case of "all politics is local" and the heirarchy of the church is simply to distant to have any impact on our daily lives, or do members honestly not care what the brethern have to say?"Friendship is the grand fundamental principle of Mormonism" - Joseph Smith Jr.

Look at the pricing, it's kind of strange that they get more expensives as you buy more, then dip again as you buy a lot. I wonder how many orders of 50 they get.
Edit: There's also a Sacred Grove one. That'd be cool if it was also a Magic Eye picture where you can see JC if you cross your eyes.Last edited by filsdepac; 09-28-2011, 03:29 PM.

I think one of the reasons people get so excited for that little Church statistical report given in conference is simply because it is new information. Same with new temple announcements.
Honest question back at you...of the 10 hours of sessions this weekend, how many total minutes of NEW information do you anticipate? New meaning you didn't know it before you hear it this weekend? My personal guess is that the ratio is extremely low, perhaps even less than 10 minutes of new info out of 10 hours of slow talking. That might shed some light as to why some find it to be a bullet to the brain. There are probably other reasons, also.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

In my case, I care what they have to say, but it is hard for me to pay attention because I find the subject matter to be repetitive. In other words, wake me up when they are saying something that isn't said over and over, week in and week out, month after month. And that they haven't already said a hundred times.
