I couldn't find any threads about podcasts and I was looking for some thoughts on what people like, what are CUFfers downloading, what do you subscribing to, etc.

I am in LOVE with the Mohr Stories, the Jay Mohr podcast. I have listened to the first 6 of them and thought they were hilariously entertaining and an interesting look at stand up comedy, which I love.

The other that I am a regular listener of is The Joe Rogan Experience. I think Joe Rogan is one of the most fascinating people to listen to, funny, smart, thought provoking on the most random ideas. Kind of a conspiracy nut, but in the funny way not the crazy way. Talks a lot of UFC which has helped spark my interest there.

I've been listening to Freakenomics Radio here and there. Not too bad. But I am looking for some new podcasts.

I know you hate him, but I enjoy most of Bill Simmons podcasts on the B.S. Report. Every once in a while he does something on pro wrestling or hockey that I skip, but I like most of his stuff.

I downloaded a couple, but it seemed like they were basically just chapters from the two books. I had already read both so kind of stopped checking it.

I've listened to the parenting one, the one on family business and the trans-poo-sion and they were all highly entertaining.

I've only read the first book, so I guess the stuff I hadn't heard before may have come from the second book.

How do you not listen to the Ace Rockola (Adam Carolla) the best podcast around? Consistently delivers fantastic comedy.

I listen to him during my drive everyday. Very good stuff.

I also like Mike and Mike's podcast. But by the time I get around listening to it, the sports news is dated.

Filmspotting's already been mentioned, but I also like Sound of Young America (a great interview podcast) and of course This American Life.

Also the guys at my local comic shop do a comics related one called Giant Size Podcast that I usually listen to.
Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

If anyone is interested in a fun listen I would reccommend Episode 16 of Mohr Stories. http://smodcast.com/episodes/tales-from-the-mound/

Features Jay Mohr talking with Jeremy Guthrie about sports, boy bands and being Mormon. I didn't know Guthrie was LDS or from Oregon so basically a double winner.

I just listened to the break up episode on this american life. Fantastic episode and the part about the 8 year old was heart wrenching.

Another great intelligence squared debate, this one on immigration:

For those of you getting sick of the completely unsubstantial presidential debates, this is a nice reprieve. They're much more entertaining than you'd think.

Great list--looks very much like mine (we have the bolded in common). I agree with you on Radiolab--underrated, but consistently really well-done.
I'm going to add History of the World in 100 Objects. I might get rid of Stuff You Missed in History Class--too long and too much obscurity. although the recent gangster stuff was pretty cool.

anyone have recomendations on new testament commentary?
There seems to be a lot of stuff there, but it seems daunting to go through it all looking for the good stuff. Something along the lines of what Jared Anderson would produce, if he were doing a NT podcast....

With Jay Mohr taking over for Jim Rome I wonder if the podcast is over? I'm probably 8-10 episodes behind as I don't have much road time during the Winter.

That'll be too bad if so.

Over Christmas I got hooked onto "the History of English Podcast." Its a great podcast. Its run by Kevin Stroud, a lawyer in the real world. His podcasts are much more in-depth than anything we covered in my History of English courses as an undergrad.

If you are really into history, then I strongly recommend Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. I'm really enjoying the series on the Khan dynasty. This is not your Reader's Digest version of history.

Currently my favorite is Caustic Soda Podcast. It's hosted by 3 Canadians who have gaming and screenwriting backgrounds. They're hilarious as hell. They have a very eclectic episode list. This week I learned about wasps, the week before was patricide in history. Self surgery, zombies, ninjas, feral children are other past ones. Basically anything they find interesting. They even have one on mormonism.

    Give it a whirl:
