depends on what you need them for - they all have different missions

I may be small, but I'm slow.

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to, "The United States of America ", for an amount of "up to and including my life - it's an honor."

is his a public poll? I don't want to be embarrassed by making my answer known to the world.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

What are the missions of each group? Why does the Army need two Tier 2 groups?

Also, why are there so many Navy groups? Aren't the Marines also under the Navy's umbrella?

I've know several SF soldiers - and people who have served in the Ranger Bns, they have all been superb soldiers.

For those that don't know attending Ranger tng is very common for Combat Arms types, esp officers, and most people who complete Ranger tng and get the tab don't serve in the organized Bns (75th INF REG), or at least that was the way it used to be, Goat' would have more current info than I do.

The Rangers and the SF have two different missions.

The SF are mainly organized for Unconventional Warfare - organize and train guerilla groups in enemy controled areas

The Ranger Bns are more in support of Convential Warfare - long range patrolling, recon as it were.

As for Marine Force Recon - I think it has much the same mission as the Rangers, but I'm not sure.

Delta and SEAL6 are in another world entirely. From what I understand they get there people from the Tier2 organizations.

As to why there are so many of them - I think it boils down to service rivalary -everybody has to have a piece of the pie.

Yes the Dept of the Navy has responsiblity for the Marines
