Joe Mamma's? My wife ate there a few weeks ago and said it wasn't that great. She prefers the Griddle.

I enjoy GV's updates but even after living in the 208 for a cumulative total of 30 years I only get about 10% of his references.

Going up to the high school tournament on the Friday with my boys is one our my favorite traditions. Yesterday didn't disappoint. That performance by Tanner Cuff, willing his team to victory through three OT's after his entire team fouled out was one of the most inspiring things I've ever seen. Best moment: his dad looking away not able to watch his two FT's with less than a second left in regulation. Made one, missed one, to tie it. btw BYU missed out big time on Isaac Johnson. If you take all the 6'10+ skinny Mormon white kids to come out of high school over the years, I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out the best.

Watched the 5a games on TV. Corner Canyon has been playing very well at the right time. Hayden Welling has been unstoppable in his last couple games. Rematch with Jordan for the title should be a good one.

There was a lot of Hillaryng over private schools in Idaho in lower divisions. Christian school in town of deep threat did not lose game all year. Village of Rocks ended East Blaine County's season, too bad they did not do that last night. RC,S neighbors did a great job.

Town of Harold G Hilliam took it all. Dominated in everything this fall. Town that hosts resort of park in middle of water with same mascot of UW won first state championship. Isiah Wrights alma mater took it to RC,S backyard.

Grobergs alma mater dethroned twin of Napolean Dynamite and turtle puppy gate.

Jr simlots alma mater went two and out. There star headed for RC,S college alma mater and a couple of other kids got in a urinating match with coach I guess and quit.

I didn.t make it up there this year but some good games.

Village full of Rocks south of American Falls and not too far from town that produced democratic LDS governed donut know how active he was. Family pro,one t banking family in South Central Idaho and Coach that coached the Utah Stars in now defunct ABA to a national championship, coached Wayne Estes at Utah State and finished with the greats of Haws Padre, Brian Tayler jimmy Usevitch, Andy Toolson, Jeff Chatman, Michael Smith and others,

Well town not far from there today did something for the first time in school history. The Lady Dawgs won the state championship for the first time in any sport. Jv coach at team they took down defected from our town when hubby went to work up there. She played at place called Ricks. She is fireball and hubby real laid back. Had to cut off there hunting trip during state football as boy was play g for championship, Ext year will be last year he has to worry about that or not if we keep them out of state.

Pretty good rivalry between our team and team the village of rocks beat. We still get along with the people that moved up there. Head coach may have been related to people I am not sure if it is village of Rocks or over a bit to the Trojans of whitewater town.

So now I wonder winat the Releif Society/ booster club will feed the town now. And will the police and fire department escort them down? Good things happened in that town.

For boys we will lose private schools in town of Toolson, Dallin Oaks early years and deep threat. Three way tie and our team got third in coin flip so played that town. I like leagues that use how you did against third place team or common opponents better. We got third last time in three way tie for football and had to go north of town once graced by Dick Motta. All hell broke loose a week earlier too. I’m not fan of coin flips.

Sled dogs have talented athlete. Maybe we can get by them and our boys can make the date to state.

Who watched boys state? Christian school in town of deep throat and Andy Toolson lost to Eastern Blaine County not far from craters of the moon. I thought for sure finally for first time in many years that school would miss the state tournament. Didn't,t happen. Fortunately we beat that school after losing to them by many points three earlier times. Had three way tie and on coin flip we got fourth. Head to head did not apply because everyone beat everyone. Better ways to break ties than coin flips.

Town on Lamanite land not far from Canadian border that is supposed to be 1ad2 and will next year went through season unbeaten. Kept Gen Prep out of state. We got by central Idaho digging town in ot. Held Lamanite res town tell fourth quarter lost to them then beat town not too far from were NBA coaching great Dick Motta used to coach. Pulled away from them. No private school 8b 1ad2 this year at state, and there will be fewer schools that are private at that level to go to state next year. Moving on up.

1ad1 Lamanites near Moscow got to semis but town that once had Dick Motta played for state championship bu5 growing school with ,cdonalds mascot took it to them. Other charter private schools did not do well at that level that went to state.

Rc,s neighbors to the north took state near Idaho resort again. 3a a larger school in the Eastern part of Twin Falls County made it to championship an$ beat RC,S neighbors near home of wacko but for second year in a row they took state. A kid from Jr Simplots Alma mater hit a Seventyfive foot shot against that school twenty two years ago and won state. Shocking to be on other team.

4a Naopolean Dynamite town won forth in five years. Lou Dobbs Alma mater gave them a run. School named after prominent Idaho Senator with big recruit took 5a. I watched consolation and third place at Caldwell, didn't,t go to Idaho Center. 2020 basketball so far.

My wife always gives me a hard time saying that I took her to Craters of the Moon for our honeymoon. That wasn't the destination, but we did drive through it.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I didn't watch any of it, but was surprised that Rocky Mountain wasn't even in the final. The guys with whom I play basketball in the mornings were pretty sure that Rocky would win the title. I guess they had only lost one game all season, and that was to an out-of-state school (maybe from Utah).

Man, you could be like a Navajo Code Talker, with all the references to local names and places that nobody else would know. I grew up in Idaho, and have no idea what schools you're talking about most of the time.

Christian school in town of deep throat and Andy Toolson = Lighthouse Christian in Twin Falls.

Eastern Blaine County not far from Craters of the Moon - The mighty, mighty, michtymightymighty Carey Panthers (notably the runners up to the ROCKLAND BULLDOGS in the 1A Division 2 Girls State Basketball tourney)

Town on Lamanite Land not far from Canadian Border that is supposed to 1Ad2 (grape really meant 1Ad1) = Lakeside High School in Plummer, ID. A reservation school way up north serving the young men and women of the Coeur'd'Alene Tribe.

Genesis Prep (usually referenced as Chicken Shit online Christian school and longtime thorn in the side of the public smallest schools in Idaho) is Genesis Prep in Post Falls, ID.

Central Idaho digging town = Mackay High School in Mackay, ID. A long time 1A power they have fallen from the perch as the demographic changes in central Idaho are not to their favor. They are also a chief rival of the Rockland Bulldogs and the Lady Miners were the only team in 1Ad2 to have beaten Rockland, which they did twice before the Eastern Blaine County team not far from Craters of the Moon knocked them out in round 1 of the state tourney that the ROCKLAND BULLDOGS went on to win.

Town from not too far where Dick Motta used to coach = North Gem High School in Bancroft, ID. Town where Dick Motta coached is actually Grace, ID. Grace got 2nd in the 1Ad1 classification and Dick Motta once said his greatest feeling as a coach, even better than winning an NBA Championship, was when he coached the Grace Grizzlies to their first state championship in the late 1950s. North Gem on the other hand won one in 1995 when they were led by future SUU small forward Justin Sant. North Gem is the other rival of the Rockland Bulldogs who you might know by now won their first ever state championship recently when their girls reigned supreme as Idaho's 1Ad2 State Champions. North Gem was no match this year fore the Lady Dawgs but the Lady Grizzlies would have been with star 5 Maniah Clegg- Grace won 3rd place in the girls state tourney at the 1Ad1 level.

1Ad1 Lamanites are the mighty Lapwai Warriors from the Lapwai on the Nez Perce Reservation just south of Lewiston about 1 mile beyond the Clearwater River. Usually Lapwai is the power in 1Ad1 but they were really young this year starting 4 sophomores so the mighty Grizzlies of Grace took them out in the semis enroute to Grace losing to a Christian private school, Ambrose, from Boise. The private schools from bigger metro areas is a very sore point to many sports fans of the smallest schools in Idaho. Ambrose are the Archers so that is the school with the Mcdonald's mascot.

RC's neighbors to the north near Idaho resort town are the North Fremont Huskies from Ashton, Idaho. Ashton is north of Rexburg and RC and south of the resort town of Island Park.

3A larger school in Eastern part of Twin Falls County are the Kimberly Bulldogs who were the runner up to the mormon on steroids town of Sugar-Salem- as the Diggers routinely win about 8 State Championships every year.

JR Simplots alma mater is Declo. Kid who hit that shot was a Christenson and his sons are star XC runners at Valley HS in Hazelton, ID and his nieces are star XC runners at Raft River HS and the principle reason Rockland's best state trophy was 2nd place at track in 2018 until our lady dawgs girls team took us to the promised land where we at the manna!

4A Napoleon Dynamite town is Preston, Idaho but like totally everybody knows that, Napoleon!

Lou Dobbs Alma Mater are the Spartans of Minico High- short for Minidoka County,

So be at ease, I will be in the area all day long!

Growing up, my Dad's family would take a fishing trip to Mackay, ID, once or twice a year. We'd go over labor day every single year. We'd drive up after school on Friday, camp at a local campground right there on the edge of town. We'd stay until Monday afternoon, then drive home to be ready for school the next day. A lot of years we'd go for a long weekend in the summer too (Dad was a school teacher) or sometimes over Memorial Day.

Grandpa had 7 boys, and they would all go along with their kids. Grandpa's brother and some of his kids would go too. We'd have a pretty big group there at the campground. We'd all go to the local ward for church Sunday, and would add 25% to their attendance - about 50% to their priesthood.

The campground was close enough to the river that we could just walk over and fish all day long, taking a break to walk back for lunch if we felt like it. Grandpa didn't like to walk the river, so he would drive down to the reservoir and fish by the damn. I think I only went with him once to do that - it was more boring lake fishing than river fishing.

Lot's of good times in Mackay. Running around with my cousins, building rafts at a little pond by the campground, and catching more fish than I can count in the river there. Haven't been back in 30+ years, since my dad died. I think some of the cousins still go now and then, but I've never been invited back. I think it was a sore spot with my brother for a few years. The uncles explained to Mom that they weren't taking any kids who wouldn't have a dad there to take care of them. Then, the very next year, one of the uncles couldn't go for some reason and one of the other uncles took his kids with him. I think it was my brother's fault - he was kind of a pain in the ass as a kid - kinda angry at losing his dad - so I can't blame them for not wanting to be responsible for him.

Sorry for the long reminisce - seeing the town name brought back a ton of memories and emotions...
