My kids are learning some of their songs in choir at their magnificent school. The songs seem to be holding up very well. I reallly think Lennon was the brains of the operation. Look at the crappy output from McCartny alone.

Beatles = overrated.
Not denying their talent and contribution, but the Jimmer status they are blindly afforded gets to be a bit much. I know I'll be in the minority on this one."Sure, I fought. I had to fight all my life just to survive. They were all against me. Tried every dirty trick to cut me down, but I beat the bastards and left them in the ditch."

I was thinking today that I came in on really the sunset of the Beatles as I was growing up. I've never owned an album, never been a devotee. But I don't think there's a band out there (except the doobie brothers who I loved in HS and can't abide now) whose songs I so immediately recognize as Beatles songs and can name. I bet most or all of you are the same. Their range seems to have been fantastic, from Hard Days Night and Hold YOur Hand to Black Bird, Let it Be, Long and Winding Road and Hey Jude (sp?) to Maxwell Silver Hammer.
Some of it is that like Twain or Melville they were the first to do much of what they did and do it well. But their songs are also very musical, and as I said evince tremendous range, and hold up well. So many groups just don't sound as well anymore. Sound awful.When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Seriously, I don mind if you like/love the Beatles. I just think they're overrated. I can think of 10 groups right now from the late 60s/early 70s that I'd much rather listen to."Sure, I fought. I had to fight all my life just to survive. They were all against me. Tried every dirty trick to cut me down, but I beat the bastards and left them in the ditch."

- The majority will recognize the never dying genius of The Beatles
- Someone will keep calling them overrated to get a rise and because they're clueless
- The Tick will make some silly comment about Elvis and the Danbury Mint
- Funk will make some assertion beyond the scope of anything that has been stated
- Mrs. Funk will lay an epic smackdown on Mr. Funk for yet again dragging this topic back to the glue factory
- MarkGrace will argue they're the only properly rated band in history and flip everyone off
There, I saved you the search.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.
