  • Hoyas underrated

Georgetown started out at a ridiculously low ranking of no. 18 this year. Apparently the rationale is that Jonathan Wallace and Roy Hibbert graduated. These were the only important losses.

True, these two have been anchors in John Thompson III's spectacular success. But they were nevertheless the first two players he recruited as part of a massive rebuilding of a moribund program. Wallace had orally committed to Princeton and HIbbert was a not terribly athletic 7-2 project who was not widely recruited. Neither will star in the NBA. They were like classic Majerus players.

Their replacements are Greg Monroe, the top rated freshman in the nation, a polished scoring and rebounding 6-11 probably destined for the NBA after this year, and Chris Wright, an athletic point guard who was highly recruited and played 15 minutes a game last year as a freshman. The Hoyas are legitimate NC contenders.
When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.
