  • It's getting harder and harder to stay a BYU fan...

I'll probably always root for BYU, just because i graduated from the school, but I hate the direction the football program is taking. I realize we've had pretty good success the last few years, and that a lot of that is due to Bronco, but the guy bugs the shit out of me. And it's not just because he's weird and creepy. Or because of his contempt for fans (someone needs to tell the guy that college football exists solely to entertain the fans. Period. "Bronco, you and your team are our bitches, so shut the hell up and wait in the corner until til we send for you").

I'm tired of Bronco trying to make BYU football so damn NICE. I'm tired of hearing about firesides and Captain Moroni and returned missionaries and white LDS recruits whose values reflect the unique mission of the University. That's all horseshit. Football is entertainment. Violent and brutal entertainment. But we like it because sometimes it's fun to watch people beat the shit out of each other.

Let's face it, Bronco is a pussy. He's Mr. Rogers with a whistle and clipboard. He's Frank Burns without the personality. He's embarrassing. Can we please see if it's not too late to get Crowton back?

    LOL.

You need to make sure your coaches don't speak with the general conference intonation. That would be my first requirement.

Firesides on the eve of a game is a bizarre, counterproductive ritual, as I've said. Football reenacts the Greeks vs. the Persians, the Romans vs. the Carthaginians, the phalanxes, squadrons of mounted archers. The lead up to the game should be about engendering blood lust, not Christian good feelings. Football is all paganism.

I've said before Whit is the best big game motivator I've ever seen; it's scary to think what he must do to his kids to get them flying so high.
When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

There is always room for you on the other side, NS.

While I wouldn't have put it in those terms and have no desire to see Crowton anywhere near the program, I agree. I don't know who else they could get that would be as successful, but I really do wish Bronco would tone down the sanctimony and condescension. Football is about tribalism and brutality. There's no sense in pretending otherwise.
