I'm interested in any feedback, though this was mostly an exercise in trying to organize myself, which I often do through writing.
Pretty interesting, but it feels a little too binary. Everything is on a spectrum.

Sure, everything is on a spectrum, that's a predictable outcome of evolutionary trial and error, but it's strongly bi-modal. Overwhelmingly so. But it might be converging, which is interesting, but will take a spectacularly long time to achieve. Unless something else intervenes, like human consciousness itself.

      • I thought this was an interesting podcast. I had never heard of the series before, but the subjects of this one are classmates of mine from high school and the husband posted it on his Facebook page. It's really quite amazing how open they are about their experience.

I updated the original essay based on some feedback from family.

This podcast was released which covers some of the same material. Rebel Wisdom is doing interesting interviews across the board.

          • The Church just dropped like 69 or 70 videos in one day, all talking about pornography.

The fact that I giggled at the idea of 69 videos on pornographers convinced me that one of them is meant for me.

                • I find it kind of funny that some of the top Porn sites no longer allow anybody in Utah to access their sites now that their new age verification law is in effect. The state senator who sponsored the bill was surprised by this.

England and France have the same/similar age verification laws.

NordVPN is supposed to be good.

I'll ask my kids. They hooked me up with one (no, not to watch pr0n. To catch the last of Breaking Bad when the fifth season was only on the British version of Netflix!)

Yeah, soon the government may be regulating your use of VPNs thanks to the so called patriot act part 2:

The Broad, Vague RESTRICT Act Is a Dangerous Substitute for Comprehensive Data Privacy Legislation
                              [...]
Could a person be punished under the law for using a VPN to access TikTok if its U.S. access is restricted? Potentially.
                              [...]
The bill authorizes the Department of Commerce to impose “mitigation measures” without any restrictions on what those measures might be. Couple that with a vague enforcement provision that grants the power to broadly punish any person who “evades” these undefined “mitigation measures,” and the result is a law that can be read as criminalizing common practices like using a VPN to get a prohibited app, side-loaded installations, or using an app that was lawfully downloaded somewhere else.

Even if the bills’ sponsors do not intend it, giving the Commerce Department broad authority to impose crushing criminal penalties on any person trying to evade a “mitigation measure” is dangerous. For example, in the case of a mitigation measure that bars the importation of TikTok into the U.S., it authorizes penalties, including 25 years of prison time, for any person who brings TikTok into the U.S., whether by use of a VPN or downloading it while in another country.

So if this bill passes and is signed into a law the commerce department could effectively outlaw the use of VPNs because you might be downloading prohibited apps.
