In all seriousness, if Netflix wants to get more people over 50, start up a streaming news channel. If they streamed live sports, everyone would pay them twice as much and happily cancel cable.

Best of Enemies. Documentary about a series of TV debates between William F. Buckley and Gore Vidal in 1968.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3518012/?ref_=nm_flmg_slf_2
Mesmerizing to watch these two go at each other. Recommended."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

When I was in High School William F. Buckley Jr. was my hero. I subscribed to the National Review and even read every one of his Blackford Oakes novels.Last edited by Non Sequitur; 02-03-2016, 06:00 PM."The mind is not a boomerang. If you throw it too far it will not come back." ~ Tom McGuane

Vidal was a particularly nasty guy and Buckley clearly didn't know how to handle him. On the air even now people don't call each other Nazis, especially when they're sitting a few feet apart. In 1968, I think quite a few people would have responded poorly to the insult, though not necessarily calling him a queer.
Buckley made a living with bringing people on with differing viewpoints and as far as I know nothing like the Vidal incident happened again. Vidal on the other hand, had a history of these nasty, personal disagreements with people throughout his life.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.
