I watched The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo via streaming Netflix on my Xbox this weekend. I liked this show quite a bit and watched the sequel (also available streaming) The Girl Who Played With Fire the following evening. Dragon Tattoo was better.

I just found out Steven Seagal: Lawman is on Netflix. I know what I will be watching. I hope they show his band.

        Great wisdom from Steven Seagal

"Intelligence is golden, the more we know about what is going on out there the safer we are."
"When the world is speeding by for others, I see things for what they are."

        Seagal on marksmanship
"Just like Zen archery or something, its a kind of a meditation for some people, being able to just really concentrate on being masterful with your discipline. When you want to really build confidence in yourself, you want to show yourself what you can do ultimately."
"Being a lifelong practitioner of the martial arts, I try to teach everyone not to fight the recoil of the weapon, but more to become one with the weapon and let it be an extension of their body."
"You got the Asian kind of Zen lesson."

"Criminals usually prey on weakness, they can smell it. Those who have studied the martial arts as long as I have can usually see those kind of predators.

Because I have never seen any of it yet...

Are Firefly and Serenity somehow conncected? And if so...which should I watch first?

Steelblue I agree with you both myself and my wife are huge First 48 fans. We watch every episode. I love the Miami Detectives as well as the ones in Memphis.

A great show has really taught me a lot about homocide investigations I catch myself second guessing the detectives all the time now. Also I would say about 90% of the homocides are drug related. Unbelievable.

"Teeth" is on netflix, i noticed last night. It's a kitschy horror movie a la "Drag Me to Hell", but with a twist of "Jesus Camp" thrown in. I laughed out loud a number of times. It's a nice blend of satire and horror.

Watch the television series Firefly first and then watch Serenity, which basically acts as a continuation/conclusion of the series.

Then, if you like it, go watch other Joss Whedon awesomeness like Dollhouse, Buffy and Dr. Horrible.
Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

                      Yes! They are connected.

Firefly (the series) was cancelled after about 14 episodes. Serenity (the movie) was created afterward to tie up some loose ends. Serenity actually stands by itself, and doesn't rely on the series for plot filler.

Given the raw dumptruck loads of rat poop that Hollywood calls 'TV Entertainment' we have to endure, with a few notable exceptions, I think an adventurous and well-written series like Firefly would be more popular today. Sadly there are few shows out there as good as or better than this. We are forcefed contrived 'reality' TV shows (studios love them because they need a minimal number of writers, and can be made with non-union/non-SAG members, but I digress...)

Anyway, both the series and the movie are fun cross between the best ideas of Star Trek (without the military formality), Star Wars (without Jar Jar), and GOOD pirate movies with the best ideas of the good shoot-em-up westerns.

The writer, Joss Whedon, is a talented writer. He created 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' (movie and TV series), 'Angel' (TV), 'Dollhouse' (TV), of course 'Firefly'. He also wrote 'Toy Story', 'Atlantis', 'Titan:A.E.', 'Alien: Resurrection', and the upcoming 'Captain America' and 'The Avengers'. He also wrote and directed some episodes for 'Roseanne', 'The Office', 'Parenthood', and 'Glee'.

**edit** Yeah, what Green Lantern said.

                        Whoa... powerful flick.

If Mormons who live far away from places where the fight for marriage equality matters, have a difficult time understanding why their church has been put under such a hot spotlight, this doc does a good job of explaining that.

I just saw that "The Outsiders" is now streaming on NF.

Its been a long time since I've seen it. Age appropriate for younger kids or no?

Yeah. The stabbing is a bit much, but not as bad as Karate Kid!

Question for those in the know: is there any need for Roku if you buy a tv with internet apps already loaded? That seems really redundant to me but maybe I'm missing something.
