  • Styx: Behind the Music

What a genius, genius episode of Behind the Music. I was excited to find the entire episode on youtube as the whole thing is hilarious. If you don't want to watch the entire thing, I suggest at least watching the last 2 segments. The amazing thing about Dennis DeYoung is he is really that whiny and self obsessed.

I wish I could track down the Behind the Music of Foreigner where they are talking about being a hard rockin' band.

Styx is coming to Redmond in July, I think I can get tickets from a radio station we advertise on. I'm going to try and go.

They just came through here with Kansas and Foreigner. I wanted to go, but tickets were insane. It was an outdoor venue, though, and ended up absolutely freezing that night, so in the end I didn't mind missing it.

Hard rocking is relative. At their peak, Foreigner, Styx, etx. were considered hard rock. Nugent, Van Halen and others became the sound of hard rock a bit later, because they were harder than Foreigner and Styx.

Should hard rock continue to evolve as it is, someday, Metallica will be considered pop.

These three bands are playing tomorrow here in SLC. No, I won't be going.

You should. I saw them a couple of years ago, and it was a lot of fun.

Styx still puts on a really great show. One of the better live acts around.

I think I suffered some permanent hearing loss from a Foreigner concert I attended at the Salt Palace when I was in high school. Seriously.
