  • Bryce Harper...

will be playing with his JC team at SLCC Friday and Saturday. I'm going to go watch him play on Friday if anyone wants to hang at Cate Field with me.

    The game starts at 3:00.

I was planning on going to one of the games, maybe I will go Friday. I would love to heckle this kid.

He is really full of himself.

Heckling is a vital part of the game.

Being full of oneself is one of the requirements of being able to make it to the highest level, so he's well on his way.

A friend of mine has a brother in law that plays for CEU, they went to watch them play CEU last week and his sister in law who is 18 and just out of high school was also there. Harper spent about 3 minutes between innings at the fence flirting with her.

Sounds like the coach at Southern Nevada needs to slap Harper in the back of the head to keep him focused.

Then again, Harper is what, 17 and ought to still be in high school? Of course, he may also be working on his choosing-which-groupie-gets-to-go-to-his-hotel-room skill.

I guess when a kid hits .417 with 21 homeruns and 64 rbis you cut him some slack. Not to mention he is 16-19 in the stolen base department and he has scored 70 runs. Now consider that he has done it all in only 168 at bats and I would let him do whatever the hell he wants.

You also may get to see Bryan Harper pitch, he is Bryce's brother.

He is 8-1 on the year with a 1.74 era, and has 76ks in 46 innings.

JC ball or not, that is impressive.

I will try to make it to the Friday game at 3pm

                  Pro-rate that for a 162 game season.

It is very impressive. The J.C. league that he is playing in is very competitive to be honest. I would bet on a year by year that league has more kids drafted than the MWC does. I remember a couple of years back when C.E.U had 6 or 7 taken.

JC leagues are very competitive due to the fact it's easier to draft JC players than D-1 players. Albert Pujols went to a JC.

What is it...about 65 HRs and 200 RBI?

Does this league use wooden bats?

Yes. And that is why he hand picked this league.

None of these are check swing home runs like we see in the CWS.
