Rik Smits went to Marist. Either you or they don't know that.

Marist yes, Pacers yes. They also thought Dale Davis should have been a perenial all-star. Basketball snobs, the lot of 'em.

There are 11 Collinsworth threads and who knows how many mentions of KC in other threads so forgive me if this has been discussed. I was talking to a family member who teaches and coaches at Provo HS who said Kyle is a terrible free throw shooter. In fact they swore he had a 60 min class everyday his senior year where all he did was shoot FT's as some asst coach rebounded for him. I've only seen him play once and don't recall anything about his FT shooting. He has a nice enough shot that any difficulties he has from the line are purely mental. Hopefully he is more Jimmer and less post-finals Nick Anderson in coming years.

I'm not sure he has that good of a shot. When I've seen him, I never thought that was a strength of his game. Although the stats I saw were pretty good for 3 point % IIRC. His brother had issues both at the foul line and regular outside FG's.

Both he and his brother are bad FT shooters. FT shooting is mostly mental, IMO. Hopefully they can fix it.

Although, it is interesting to see that whatever school is getting the most of these signed is the one that is doing the best. Its all about recruiting.
What is the story on Matt Bowman 1988, wasn't Utah Valley only a Comm College then? No grades?

Also I couldn't tell you one thing about Justin Weidauer, he must not have been very good.

I only have seen him on OnDemand but he seemed to me to have a very mechanical jump shot. His arms and body seemed to do the right things but the mechanical nature made the action look disjointed. I'm no great shot doctor or anything but that seems a problem to me.

That's KC's second triple double. I looked up stats. NCAA record for most triple doubles in a season is four: Jason Kidd tied with a few others. Most in a career is six, Shaq tied with one other. I expect KC to break those records. Triple double in college is extremely rare, and very difficult to do. If you toss his first game this season, where he just made an appearance, he's averaging 14 points, 8 rebs, 6 assists. Damn.

KC is different than a lot of BYU stars (looking at you Tyler Haws) in that his strength is athleticism and weakness is skill. Most BYU stars are the opposite, so their ceiling is capped a bit, and they reach their potential earlier. You can improve your skill but not your athleticism. I'd like to see KC defend a little better--he stands too straight up but that might be a conditioning factor. And I'd like to see him become a threat with his outside shot. If he does those two things, he'll be an NBA starter someday.

It's too bad KC doesn't have a good scoring big man to dish to. He'd be close to averaging a triple double if he did.

His rebounding stats are crazy for a pg. But then, he isn't really a pg defensively. He plays low in the zone and on free throws and thats leads to a lot more opportunities than a typical guard.

Granted, most bigs play those positions to and don't rebound like KC. He's a great rebounder.

He's a ball hog, and he's my favorite player on the team.

I've actually been surprised at how often he's played at the top of the zone on defense this season. Yesterday, they played most of the game with just one "big", so he played down low quite a bit, but over the season I'm not convinced he hasn't spent more time up top. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see him finish the season averaging 10+ rebs.
                        I'm like LeBron James.

Legitimately shocked by this. KC didn't get a ton of minutes and had even less points during the summer league.

                            One minute too slow.

If Kyle were from Croatia, it would have been a fully guaranteed contract. I've never understood why in the NBA being long, white and athletic is only desirable if you're from Europe.

If Kyle were form Croatia, he'd have developed a sweet jumpshot from 10-20 feet from the basket.
