  • Exercise equipment at home

With all the exercise equipment infomercials someone has to be buying this stuff. What do you have in your home and is it being used or not? Myself I have a Tunturi Ergometer Exercise Bike that I bought twenty five years ago and still works great but gets very little use, I have an old style Nordic Track that mimics x-country skiing that I bought 15 years ago and an ab cruncher that I got maybe five years ago. I try to use the Nordic Track maybe once a week but it works mainly as a place to hang my coat.

I have a Reebok step and some dumbells, 5, 8, 10, 15. I prefer the gym, but if I can't make it to the gym before danimal leaves or I can't bring my kids to the childcare because it is closed or they are sick, I usually just workout with those.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

I have a pull up bar that fits into the door frame and some dumbbells. Right now they're not being used because I've put my effort into running and working on my shins, but I imagine I'll start P90X again in the next couple of months.
      Not that, sickos.

I just have a set of free weights that I use to keep my arms and back strong enough to lift the sixty-pound octopus that is my son.

My cardio workouts I do outside, so I don't have any equipment. I do have a bike trainer, but you couldn't pay me to ride indoors.

I've got a Bowflex and a treadmill. I never use the Bowflex anymore because it only has 200 pounds of resistance. I never use the treadmill because I hate to run.

I have a treadmill that gets a lot of use from November thru February. Pretty minor use during the rest of the year.

I have a rowing machine that gets used about 5 times a month.

I have a step master climber thingamajig. I use it when I want sexy calves. I have sexy calves already, so I rarely use it.

I own no exercise equipment and I likely never will. The only thing I would consider buying is a cycling trainer, but only to convert it into a generator or connect it to my grain mill. Either way, it's not high on my list of priorities.

I've got a bike trainer that I use 2-3 times per week in the off-season. My wife has a recumbent stationary bike that she has used about 2-3 times in the past 3 years.

Other than that, it is just hand weights, exercise bands and a jump rope, all of which get basically no use.

                    I have this:

                    And this:

And a fluid trainer for my road bike.

I run/walk on the treadmill 3-4 times per week for ~one hour. On the alternate days I ride the bike for one hour. I also lift weights on the Hoist three times per week for 20-30 minutes each time.

                    I love my fitness room.

EDIT: My wife follows about the same regimen, minus the lifting. Kids use all three also, but for shorter time periods.

I own zero fitness equipment. Someday I hope to have a fitness room with the following:

                      Dumb bells up to 150lbs
Bench with plates up to 350lbs
                      Chin up bar
                      Dip bars.

That is all I need. My wife thinks we need a treadmill.

I bought a LifeCycle in '86 or so that still works well. At the time, it was ultra-high tech, what with various hill workouts and varying difficulties during a 12, 24 or 36 minute workout. It's charmingly retro now. I use it 1-3 times a week as a warm-up for using the dumbbells and some modest weight work.

Hey, I have that one. I still haven't figured out how to get my bike on it.

You have to swap out your original axle with the one that comes with the trainer. Then it snaps in or out in seconds.
