Why isn’t he resigning? He’s clearly a racist.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

The most common response here is everyone is willing to forgive and forget: he’s awfully handsome after all, and it was twenty years ago, so no harm no foul.

Now of course, if it was revealed that a conservative political leader, or worse Donald Trump acted similarly, well then, that would be beyond reprehensible.

Apparently, the images were first sent to Canadian news outlets. When the liberal news outlets did not report on them under the excuse they had to be thoroughly vetted first, the images were sent to Time. The hypocrisy is unfathomable.

I love how the media has decided to call Trudeau's version "brownface" as if that is somehow less offensive than blackface.

There are three major parties here. The NDP are socialists. Here is the response of NDP leader Jagmeet Singh:

"'I can tell you that it hurts': Jagmeet Singh said he doesn't know how he'll be able to look Trudeau in the eye after seeing the brown and blackfaced images"

              How about "face-darkening"?

Watching the woke crowd react to this is highly entertaining.

‘This thing is a wildfire’: Trudeau apologizes again as campaign reels from racist makeup revelations

Liberal lawmakers stood by Trudeau. Greg Fergus, vice chairman of the Canada-Africa Parliamentary Association and a Liberal member from Quebec, said he had spoken with the prime minister and accepted his apology.

“If it happened last week, it would shock me to the core,” Fergus told reporters in Ottawa. “But things that happened 20 years ago? Different time.”

Omar Yar Khan, who has served as a strategist for the Liberals, described cycling through several emotions when he saw the images: anger, frustration, regret. He said that the *images suggest “a lack of judgment” but that he didn’t think Trudeau had “any ill intent.”
I tend to agree. People do stupid stuff in high school and college, and in this case, society has changed.

Blackface has a long history in Canada and remained a common form of entertainment in schools, churches and community groups well into the 1970s. The composer of “O Canada,” the national anthem, Calixa Lavallée, spent much of his early career performing in blackface in minstrel troupes in Canada and the United States.

American minstrels traveled often to Canada, and homegrown troupes also sprung up. Philip S.S. Howard, a professor at McGill University in Montreal, wrote in a 2017 paper that this reveals “the Canada-U.S. border to be, in fact, quite porous to U.S.-style racism.”
Ha, if only the border hadn't been so porous, Canada could have remained free of U.S.-style racism.

                  Build that Wall!!!
                  Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I’m glad that we have now set the standard that black face is okay as long as it was over 10 years ago and you apologize, even if it happened multiple times.

These old pictures don't do much for me.

His boneheaded costume choices on his visit to India are much worse in my opinion as they happened while he was Prime Minister and show his absolute lack of tact.

AGree completely. I still can't believe he did that and made his family adopt that overly pious version of namaste. Sheesh, talk about cultural misappropriation.
                              PLesa excuse the tpyos.
