I agree, I do NOT like the Asian style RPGs.....the cartoonish art style, turn based combat (won't even play those anymore), and less compelling plot development. I want to love Fable but I just don't. And Skyrim is showing us what RPGs can really do. Why would anyone play Fable after they play Skyrim or Mass Effect even once?
The problem with the Asian style RPGs is also the leveling is a chore. I used to be a big final fantasy fan, but I doubt I will ever play the games again. Leveling is tedious on those games. Find a spot where there are enemies that give high experience. Walk back and forth until a random battle and repeat.

Even when you are trying to just level on Skyrim it is still enjoyable. I would much rather craft 100 iron daggers to level smithing than run around for random battles. The leveling system on Skyrim is easily one of its most enjoyable features.

I'm going to second this, bastian is a great game. Considering I only paid 5 bucks for it (thanks to awesome steam sales) I feel like I got way more then my moneys worth.

      • If I'm ranked 5,253 out of 7,658,114 on Angry Bird Seasons, is that high enough to be respectable without looking like I spent way too much time playing it?

Preordered the collector's edition. I also got early access to the demo and have played it. I suggest putting a tube sock on your dong as a precautionary measure. The demo blew me away and is absolutely fantastic. It goes live tomorrow for the US I believe. Try it with Kinect. "Garrus, concussive shot!", and he does it. "Tactical cloack", and my dude goes invisible. Awesome stuff, though I found the end boss battle got so crazy to the point where I needed to use the bumper to pause the action and game plan more carefully.

Yes. FPS/RPG combo. If you are a fan of task/quest based RPGs, this is one of the best trilogies out there. It is not a FPS in the same style of Halo or Call of Duty. While Mass has FPS elements to it, it isn't the primary objective of the game.

3rd person shooters. Play very similar to first person, you just have an over the shoulder view of your dude.

Good to know that is 3rd person shooter. The effect of 1st person shooter on me is the same as if I were to eat a dozen chili dogs then immediately get on the Tea Cup ride and spin the hell out of the seat I'm in. It makes me physically ill.

I've never played any of the series and wonder if it would be worth it to get the first two before the 2nd. Also, how inappropriate is it for teens?

What games do you let them play already? ME isnt bad. If your kids are playing CoD especially via Xbox live, then they are going to be relatively safe and unoffended within the confines of Mass Effect.

I would suggest playing them in order although it isn't necessary. I am picky that way, though. The good thing about playing them in order: you can go to GameStop tomorrow and pick up a used copy of ME1 for $10 or less. ME2 will be under $20.
