Rats. Just last night I lay awake worrying about that very possibility.

      Don't lie.

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Which means you've stopped lying, at least for the moment. So I got what I wanted.

Just get that wake out of wherever you laid it. Lier!

            • Saw "The Room" at The Tower with the girlfriend and a group of friends. It was fun having people heckle throughout. We tried to sync up the Rifftrax for it, but we didn't get in the theater in enough time.

              • "The Conspirator"

Overall it was pretty good and the acting was really well done. I knew some of the story going in, so that helped. I enjoyed it though.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Highly enjoyable. I love Cate Blanchett, and she stole the show.

BO, which night did you go? I went with a friend to Friday's screening and it was a blast. People throwing hundreds of plastic spoons at the screen, tossing roses during the love scenes, yelling "Oh, hey Denny" every time he entered the scene. I hope they make that an annual thing because I will go every time.

I watched Takashi Miike's Sukiyaki Western Django with my monthly Movie Club on Saturday. It's a bizarre Western starring Asian actors speaking their English dialogue phonetically. Weird as hell and didn't make a lick of sense, but visually, it was fun to look at.

SS and I also rewatched Flirting With Disaster, a pretty hilarious screwball comedy from the mid 90s with Ben Stiller.

We followed that up with The Limey, a solid revenge movie with Terence Stamp.

Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...

None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.

I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

I love that movie, and you're right about CB.

We saw "Rise of the planet of the Apes" Saturday afternoon (it was about 103 degrees outside, so any movies seemed like a good idea). I was pleasantly surprised for the first 2/3 of the movie but they ruined it with the last third (the battle on the Golden Gate and everything after). It went from an interesting sci-fi movie with an intriguing premise to a silly one, IMO, complete with explosions, helicopters, weaponry of all kinds and a host of implausibilties that overcame the story line.

It was still better than being out in the heat.

                      • My Name is Nobody (1973) starring Henry Fonda and Terence Hill

One of my favorite movies, but it had been a long time since I last saw it.

                          We went on Saturday.

My favorite part is when the audience groaned every time Lisa's goiter flared up.

They also cheered wildly when Johnny said his immortal line: "you're tearing me apart, Lisa!"

                          • I watched 'Too Big to Fail' on HBO last night. I'm not sure of the accuracy but it seemed to fill in a lot of the gaps in the whole TARP/bailout situation. I learned a lot and was very entertained.

                            • A Fist Full of Dollars (1964) and For a Few Dollars More (1965) starring Clint Eastwood in both and Lee Van Cleef in the latter.

The first two movies of Sergio Leone's "Man with no name" trilogy. The first was good and the second was excellent.

                              • "Life During Wartime"

Todd Solondz described it as a "semi-sequel" to "Happiness". Semi because it's comprised of virtually the same characters, but completely re-cast (notably, Omar from The Wire as Phillip Seymour Hoffman's character, and Paul Reubens as Jon Lovitz's character).

The themes running through the film are interesting, and the performances are good, but compared to "Happiness" it falls short.
