Tense, original story that shows this military unit trying to make it through a beseiged city. The viewer never leaves this tank.

    • Harry Potter 8. I enjoyed it. I don't like the ending any better than I did when I read book.

One fun thing was that ldc didn't notice in the paper that the showing we were going to was for the hearing impaired, so it included subtitles. There were a few that made me chuckle including near the end of the movie there were two subtitles in a row that said "Ominous tones" "Female singer vocalizing ominous tones".

The whole movie is from inside the tank? I don't think I could handle that.

Most of it's focused on the soldiers inside the tank, but it does spend some time looking through the gun sights.

          • Watched Lincoln Lawyer with Gidget. It was pretty good. I haven't read the books and the movie made me want to.

            • Saw Harry Potter 238.1 and really liked it. It's well-done, although they did cram a lot of complex plot resolution into it. Maybe that's how the book handled that too - I stopped reading after about the 3rd book. Anyway, a pretty spectacular flick.

Captain America is one of the early members of the Avengers. Captain America is played by Chris Evans.

The Human Torch of the Fantastic Four is one of the later members of the Avengers. The Human Torch is played by Chris Evans.

A film about The Avengers is scheduled to be released next year, staring Chris Evans -- as Captain America. Apparently The Human Torch isn't featured in the film, but still, couldn't they have given one of those roles to someone else?

Does anyone know how I get a hold of Stan Lee?
Not to harp on the issue, but Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch is not now, nor has he ever been a member of the Avengers. Thus it would make little to no sense to include his character in an Avengers movie.

Fallawful and I have already had this debate:

I think I won but he has some Wikipedia evidence that at some later point the Fantastic Four joined up with the Avengers. Can you shed further light and knowledge on this issue, and perhaps vindicate me? This is important! Next thing you know he'll be saying Jack Kirby drew Superman!

Yes, I read the debate. It's true that Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman joined the team for about 5 minutes in the early 90s and it's true that The Thing is a part-time member of the Avengers right now, but Johnny Storm has never joined and since he's currently deceased, he probably won't be joining for a little while longer.

Now, the original Human Torch from WWII, the android Jim Hammond, was revived in the modern day and served for a brief time with the team. But he was never played by Chris Evans in a movie. Fun fact though: The original Torch does get a nice cameo in the new Captain America movie (which I loved by the way.) When Steve Rogers and Bucky go visit the Modern Marvels Expo, they pass a what looks like a colorful statue encased in glass entitled "The Synthetic Man." When he was first built, some instability in his makeup caused him to burst into flames whenever he was exposed to oxygen, so for a time he was deactivated and kept in an airless glass case just like the one in the movie.

The original with John Wayne, who won an Oscar for his Rooster Cogburn, and Kim Darby, who was brilliant as Mattie Ross.

I've said it before, but I appreciated the original over the remake.

                          • I saw Lebanon last night. It's set in 1982 during the Lebanon war and the whole film is shot in the inside of a tank. It shows the tension and hesitation of the soldiers as they deal with the reality of war. There is really nothing pleasant about the movie. It's gruesome, vulgar and violent. But it did an excellent job telling a story and is worth watching if you're in the mood for something a little different.
