Saw Coco this weekend. Maybe I am biased, as someone who served a mission in Latin America. But I loved it. Does Pixar have a few plot devices they recycle? Sure. But this film was very clever, nonetheless. There are plenty of parallels to Monsters Inc. Ratatouille, Toy Story 3, Up, etc. but they are not tired, and they certainly aren't off-putting. Anyone who doesn't like this movie is a commie who is likely pushing an anti-Pixar agenda.

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Coco - Typical Pixar. Gorgeous scenes, good music, good but campy story, one or two really good heart-string tuggers, but overall kind of boring. Only two of my kids wanted to see it and they liked it but didn't love it. For an eight year old girl to not love a cartoon is kind of a low bar, so there you go. Of course, I served in France, so Ratatouille is still my favorite. I did love that in Coco, the guitar playing music matched the strings the kid was playing, which was cool."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I finally got around to watching Passengers for free and it wasn’t as bad as I feared. Speaking of allegories. it’s kind of a thought-provoking Adam and Eve with some Voltaire “Till Your Garden” vibe mixed in. I found it somewhat inspirational.
