Has a subplot it could have done without, but it's a great cast working with decent material. I would recommend it. Lake Bell's impressions are amazing and should have been worked in more.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

All of these stream on Amazon Prime:
The [Aryan] Couple - a German couple act as servants to a wealthy Jewish family that is buying their way out of Germany. I thought it was OK.
The Duchess - set in the 18th century, a girl (Keira Knightley) marries the much older Duke of Devonshire (Ralph Fiennes), who asks only that she produce an heir. I enjoyed this one.
An Unfinished Life - A woman (Jennifer Lopez) flees her abusive boyfriend with her 10-year-old daughter and goes to the ranch of her father-in-law (Robert Redford), who still blames her for the death of his son. Also starring Morgan Freeman. I enjoyed this one too, but it was a bit slow in places."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

Whiplash.
A film about a driven kid who wants to be the next buddy rich (jazz drummer). It explores the line between genius and madness, teaching pressure and sadism. It has a 97% rating on rotten tomatoes. After seeing it I really want to find out who the bozos are who make up the 3%.
In case I wasn't clear, I strongly recommend this film, especially to musicians or anyone who has been obsessed with seeking perfection in any endeavor. It captures the moments, the feeling of being in the zone, of supreme confidence juxtaposed against the crushing insecurity of genius. It was very well done.Last edited by creekster; 10-26-2014, 09:52 AM.PLesa excuse the tpyos.

John Wick- Stylized revenge flick with a lil' dash of car porn. :rockon1: Lots of fun, not too hardcore or gory or anything, either."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

Birdman
Really great. The camerawork in this is really cool as the whole movie is basically shot to look like a one-take tracking shot. The camera is always in motion, not in an FNL cinema verite type way, but rather in smooth constant movements that just kind of float around every scene. I've never seen anything else that looks like this. It's also got this layered story, which seems to be full of meta commentary about some of the actors involved (Keaton, Norton).
Pretty nice change of pace for Inarritu as well. Amores Perros/21 Grams/Babel/Biutiful all feel like they came from the same director, but this is a real departure. If you saw this without knowing who directed, you wouldn't guess it was the same guy as those other films. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.
