  • I watched The Birds.

I had forgotten how intense that movie is. It's probably Hitchcock's scariest film, next to Psycho.

I could see younger audiences getting hung up on the mechanical birds, but otherwise--wow.

          • I watched Just Mercy tonight. WB is releasing it for free so you can see it on any streaming service until June 29th.

The first third of the show I just didn't think that the book translated well into movie, but then it hits you hard the rest of the way. I loved it.

I listened to the Audio Book that Bryan Stevenson narrates and I was really impressed with how well Michael B Jordan portrays his character.

                  • 7500 on Amazon Prime. It has mixed reviews (65/56 on Rotten Tomatoes, and a lowly 5.6 on IMDB, but I liked it. It's the story of a hijacking (apparently "7500" is code for such events), with Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the co-pilot. All the action takes place in an Airbus cockpit, with small amounts of footage from airport and aircraft security cameras. Levitt is very good, as always, and it was tense and entertaining throughout, although I watched while sweating out a long ride on the trainer, so that may have accounted for some of my reaction. Still, I recommend it.

Agreed. Marisa Tomei is also still looking good.

It's too bad she and George Costanza couldn't work things out. They would have made a great couple

                          • Les Miserables (2019). Not the musical. Was nominated for Best Foreign Film at last Oscars. A powerful film that is strikingly applicable to this American moment. If you're one who doesn't like to read subtitles I have to say that I forgot I was reading less than 5 minutes into the film. Highly recommend.

That looks good. Unfortunate choice of name, which is probably why nobody knows about it. But I'll give it a watch.

I finally got around to Uncut Gems. Man, what a stressful film. I enjoyed it ex post facto. But it was kind of torture until it was over.

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

imagine seeing the 10:00pm showing seated next to your father in law in an otherwise empty theater.
