  • My questions or keys to the game (not that it matters much)

#1 - How does BYU D play against Utah's misdirection? In the AF game byu had a lot trouble with end arounds and reverses. Didnt AF run 3 straight reverses on one of their scoring drives?

#2 - Does Brian Johnson limit his rurnovers?

#3 - Does BYU get the football to unga? I tuned in to the AF gamw on at the start of 2nd quarter. I called tooblue with a couple minutes remaining and asked "Is unga hurt?" When byu started to get him the ball in the 2nd half that is when they pulled away.

#4 - Who covers Pitta? IMO this is the biggest mismatch in BYUs favor. Not mention George causes similar concerns. If the combination of Sylvester and Robert Johnson and Mike Wright can cover him well that bodes well for the utes.

#5 - Can the byu DBs keep up with Utah's WR and can BJ get these receivers the ball

Anyway, I look forward to a great game and hopefully a Ute win. I will be there in the North End Zone cheering loudly (yes that is right... Our Family are NEZers.. that is a joke for those that follow utefans.net)

Agree on Pitta. You know he's hurt, right? May not play Saturday.

      Well that certainly blows.

        What?

Injuries suck. Hopefully he'll be ready to play, otherwise I'd have to think of him as a wuss who couldn't suck it up.

Sprained MCL in the Air Force game. He says he'll be ready, but no word from the coaches yet.

#1 - This scares me. I think I only saw two consecutive reverses, but both with big gains. The third time they tried to run it, our guy stayed home and we stopped it. Encouraging, but still...

#2 - No idea. You seem to have two completely different QBs wearing the same uniform.

#3 - I kept yelling at the TV to "run the ball", only to see them throw another pass to Pitta/George/Collie, and my wife saying "that's why they're not running it". Except for that idiotic end-of-half interception, I actually thought Anae did a decent job. I can even see his reasoning (sort of) for calling that play (and yeah, that was a called play--no way it was an audible). Sure, we had a timeout left, but we would have needed that to set up for a FG. I think we make the TD with two runs, but then if we didn't, we have everyone saying that we're too predictable--why not throw the ball? I can see Fui actually having a pretty good game against you guys if they give him a chance.

#4 - Pitta's hurt and I'm not sure if he's going to play. I don't think there's a huge dropoff from Pitta to George though. Both have great hands--Pitta just has WR hands.

#5 - Obviously we can't keep up with the WR's, although I'm much more encouraged about Howard's play than I was three weeks ago. He seems to be learning the position and I think he'll be decent next year. He has the speed to stay with people, and occasionally he'll actually play like a DB. Still--big advantage to you.

Overall, I think your #2 point will be the deciding factor. If BJ has a good (or even decent) game, you win; if not, we do.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Bronco said last night that Pitta will likely sit out until Thurs practice and if he can't go Thurs then they will hold him out of the game. George is a very good weapon...all though he is more of truer Tight End, where as Pitta is a TE/WR hybrid.

While Pitta is a huge weapon of ours, last year Utah did a really good job of neutralizing his effectiveness. Where they struggled was stopping our run game last year. Unga ran for huge chunks of yardage last year. I'm not sure that Unga's problems this year have as much to do with him as they do that the O-line is simply not run blocking with the dominance they did a year ago. This is my opinion the most overated unit on BYU's team. While they are very good, they aren't dominant like they should've been.

The matchup of the game will be Sean Smith vs. Austin Collie. That is going to be fun to watch. Personally I hope they put McCain on Collie cause we'll exploit that match up all day long, but Coach Anderson is a smart guy.

I think BJ has to have an off day and BYU has to get a couple of turnovers and maybe even get a defensive touchdown if they're to win the game. If Coach Ludwig is smart...he'll follow the TCU and UNLV template and stretch the field and use the misdirection plays and direct snap plays that have worked so well against BYU this year.

I think Utah should be favored and deserves to be. If the BYU of the 2nd half shows up against Utah on Saturday...the game will be a dogfight...if not then Utah will win by a comfortable double digit margin.
