The "what are you listening to at this very moment" thread
Any synth-pop lovin' 80s revivalist should own this album.
I took this post as a challenge and listened to some of it via youtube and I just want to say thanks. I really liked it.
"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill
"I only know what I hear on the news." - Dear Leader
Thom Yorke was a co-host on Radio 1's show with Gilles Peterson last night, and I just got done listening to their two hour set. Mostly stuff that you would expect from Thom (lots of dubstep/electronica as well as some jazz and hip-hop), but some great cuts and it was really interesting to listen to him talk about music. This was the tracklist:
Christoph de Babalon — Are You Talking To Me?
Floating Points — People's Potential
Floating Points — Vacuum Boogie
Pangaea — Why
Darkstar — Need You
Gil Scott-Heron — I’ll take Care Of You
Charles Mingus — Mood Indigo
Sun Ra — On Jupiter
MF DOOM — Great Day (Fourtet remix)
Jay Eletronica — Exhibit C
Shadows Of Tomorrow — Madlib & Quasimoto
Los Silvertones — Carman
Can — Oh Yeah
George Russell — Electonic Sonata For Souls Loved By Nature Part 1
Blaqstarr & Diplo — Get Off (The Rob 3 remix)
South Rakkas Crew — Mad Again (Boy 8 Bit Mix)
Rockwell — Unknown Track
Alex Cortex — Huyendo Part 2
Milton Nascimento — Pao E Agua
Clinic — Distortions
Dam-Funk — Searching For Funk's Future
Brad Mehldau — Everything In It's Right Place
João Gilberto — Aguas de Marco
Overall a good mix of stuff. I really liked that Darkstar cut, the Mingus and Sun Ra tracks, the Four Tet remix of DOOM, and the Madlib and Quasimoto.
That Mehldau cover of Radiohead was actually one that Peterson picked and Thom had never heard it before. He seemed to really dig it.

Hot damn this year has the potential to be immense.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.
Is radiohead coming out w/ a proper release this year?
Ed claims they will have a record out this year, but we all know they take their sweet time. We do know that they recorded with Nigel prior to last summer, they went through several weeks of rehearsals prior to Christmas to get ready for another studio session, and they are currently recording in LA right now and will be there for a solid month. How much of the album will be done at the end of the month remains to be seen. If it's not complete, then they probably won't be able to hit the studio again until summer as Thom and his ???? band will play Coachella in April and maybe a handful of other shows. That means that group will be rehearsing most of March to get ready for the April shows.
Thom's got a lot of crap going (two bands now, remixes, soundtrack stuff), I believe Jonny has to finish his second classical work for the BBC sooner or later, and Phil is recording a solo album. So we'll see if they have time to get this thing out in '10, but right now that is the expectation.
