  • Still will most likely lurk--but here goes anyway

    How did you find CS?
Same way I find everything on the web, it showed up in google when I was looking for something. Have no idea what the original thing was.

How did you choose your moniker?
It's a play on my last name. Coincidentally, I share last names with the other frog on the board. It's likely we're related, most of the others I run into descend from the same polygamous marriage from the Bear Lake area.

What do you do (other than read CS)?
    Software Engineer

How many time zones have you lived in?
    Counting mission, 3

    What are your sports loyalties?
UW from my dad, BYU, not in that order. When I had knees that still allowed it I was an avid volleyball player.

Are you looking forward to wuap's welcome question and what do you think it will be?
    Of course and yes.

What do you like about CS?
Open forum on anything, but more respectful than most.

What don't you like about CS?
    Ellis Island

Do you pee in the sink?
No, but only because it never occurred to me before, I may have to edit this in a week.

Did you ever consider an alternative career path?
Nope, knew I was doing something with computers at a very early age.

When your kids get older, will you do drugs with them in order to teach them a responsible approach to drugs?
Some of my kids are older (5 total ranging from 5 to 18), so far no drug experimentation, but with 3 teenage females in the house, I've considered it.

What's your standing in the church? (this was originally meant as a joke but it stuck)
Temple recommend holder with a healthy dose of skepticism.

Why are you so creepy? How long have you been lurking?
I'm a very practiced lurker, I learn a lot more from observing.

Do you expect anyone to respond to this thread?
Probably only the things I wrote that I don't think are funny.

Hopefully your UW is Wyoming, otherwise that's too bad.

Washington. Though giving some thought to why a moniker used on a (now) predominantly BYU Cougar forum would proclaim disdain for an institution rather than celebrate affiliation with another leaves the comment a bit toothless. I expect better around here.

That was phrased better than most.

Welcome. There are probably a few better suggestions on this site than peeing in the sink. Not that I begrudge anyone who does...

I'm not one of the smart guys around here, so you can't expect more out of me. Sorry.

I suspect so, we share the same surname, and I have not yet met a Pugmire that doesn't come from the same ancestor. (Jonathan Pugmire Jr., a blacksmith in the time of JS and the pioneer trek.) I've never met Hopfrog though I would love to, his life story is likely an amazing tale.

I'm not sure exactly what your after, but I'll answer the question I think is being asked. I prefer the engineering. I enjoy looking at a problem and seeing the components that need to fall into place that elegantly resolve it. Somebody else can build the components and put them together--a skill that requires mastery of your development tools and excellent craftsmanship. It also requires constant updating of your toolbox and learning the ins and outs of the new toys (tools), which from my perspective just takes time away from the fun of solving problems.
