I'm really looking forward to the games this year. My DVR will be getting a real workout.

I'm really looking forward to the trials again. I just got our tickets in the mail the other day, 3rd row on the finish line!

Directv supports the add-ons of external hard drives to increase DVR storage capacity. I might have to consider repurposing one of my external drives for the Olympics because there's too much material for me to record and view within the ~ 2 week Olympic time frame.

      P.S. London is really cool.

I'm pretty stoked about the ceremonies. Danny Boyle and Underworld...should be cool.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Maybe it was just my age at the time (college and then law school) but I couldn't get interested in the Summer Olympics at all in 2000 and 2004. Then I became interested again in 2008. Maybe it's because we have the Chinese as the new cheating villains, so we've got a version of the old US v. Soviet rivalry going on.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I think that the receivers only support one drive at a time, meaning that if you plug in an external drive, that is the only one that the receiver can use. So you'd better make sure you have a really big external drive to make it worth the loss of the original drive's capacity. I think I remember reading that somewhere.

Might want to skip England's women's volleyball matches.

Spoiler for Potentially NSFW pic of GBR beach volleyball team:

OK, I assumed it would automatically start pushing data out to the external drive once the DVR drive is full, but obviously I haven't spent much time researching this. I have a 1TB external, which I think is good for up to 100 hours of HD recording. Between our other DVRs, I think we might have it covered.

I don't watch a heckuva lot of TV these days, so I can watch this stuff at my leisure over the upcoming weeks/months when the mood strikes me. I'll just avoid the ESPN/CB/CUF spoilers.

It will be fun to watch, especially basketball! Except for the fact I don't get NBC Sports Network and they're trying to use it as one of their main channels (unless there's a streaming option I can watch those games).

Funny. The ceremonies are probably just above gymnastics for events I care to watch at the Olympics.

I love the Olympics (except for the aforementioned gymnastics and ceremonies)!!!

I'll watch the soccer matches. I don't really care about the other events.

I don't normally care much for the ceremonies...only excited because of who's doing it this year (though I still would have loved to see Albarn).
