  • Dexter...

I have been a huge fan of this series since it began three seasons ago and Season 3 just wrapped up last night. http://www.sho.com/site/dexter/home.do

Fabulous as usual. Seriously. The show is disturbing and wildly entertaining.

For those that know nothing of the show, it focuses on Dexter Morgan. He is a blood spatter expert with the Miami Police Department. He is also a serial killer. His code is to kill anyone that has killed before and got away with it. He is socially awkward and undeniably likable.

Anyway, if you have a chance, you should pick up season 1 and you will be hooked.

My wife and I watched Season 1 on TV during the writers strike. It was edited, although I think they only edited the F words, because there certainly were body parts and intense scenes.

We absolutely loved it. rad show.

unfortunately, the writers strike ended before they could air edited Season 2.

So we are stuck in limbo waiting for another writers strike.

I love the Show and have watched the first 2 Seasons on DVD.

I know the Season 3 Finale was last night, but I don't have Showtime and will have to wait til it comes out on DVD next Summer.

You can rent the seasons on DVD. Season 2 is already out...Season 3 will come out in a few months, probably May or June.

Agreed, but they are not edited. sigh.

I hope people will post spoiler alerts in this thread because I am positive that somehow, someday, the edited versions will air on normal or cable tv. the show is too good and once you head into 4th season, you usually start sniffing syndication. I can see dexter being aired twice a year on Spike TV or somesuch.

At filsdepac's recommendation, and with the missus' absence last week, I just finished the first two seasons and am hooked. The grisly violence is a bit much (even though it's for a good cause!), and Deb's foul mouth is really irritating, but there's some great writing here. I love Dexter's inner voice, usually very funny or insightful. Season 3 arrives today (not quite as much demand nowadays--thanks, Netflix!).

Sunday's episode was fairly good. I like Mos Def's role.. Adds an interesting part to Dexter.. Not sure hwo I feel about Collin Hanks and James Edward Olmos yet.. The thing I loved about Season 1 is that the killers were not revealed so quickly. I liked the progress of it.. Hanks feels stiff in his role but maybe that is what they were looking for.

                Interesting episode...

                  Spoiler for New Season Theory:
There are a ton of Dexter fans in the hospital where I work and so early in the week there's lots of talk about the show. I was talking with a nurse today who has a theory (don't know if she came up with it or read it, but it was new to me) that Gellar is dead and that Hanks' character Travis is psychotic and only seeing and speaking with him in hallucinations. She says if you go back and watch, people never look at Gellar when they are in public, only at Travis. Also said victims never look at Gellar. Kind of an interesting take.

So the ghost of Gellar tied up the girl? Or Travis did it subconciously?

I brought that up. She thinks Travis doesn't remember doing those things and we see what he sees and believes. I haven't gone back to watch yet but she said that when other people are in the scene anything we believe Gellar has done to them is an assumption.

So a homicidal Tyler Durden? Hmmm. Not that interesting, but I guess so long as they don't make it the focal point of the plot it's ok.

I watched Sundays episode again with my wife and the only time I can see how her theory makes sense is at the diner when the waitress walks up and says hi to Travis and never even acknowledges Gellar. In fact she offers to fill up Travis' coffee but doesn't say anything to him. I need to go back and look to see if he has a place setting in front of him.

Interesting theory.. And makes sense.. I'll put my rsponse in spilers just to make sure I am not spoiling it in case anyone has not seen it yet..
                            Spoiler for Spoiler:
I thought CJ had a good point and I thought the same thing but again your response makes sense.. I think I'll pay attention to when Travis speaks to Gellar as well..

The other reason that leads to this is that Gellar has disappeared 2 years ago. So he is on his religous cleansing quest or in fact Travis has taken him out and is now so mentaly distraught over it that he is hallucinating...
