  • If Utah beats Oregon

I will be very surprised. I learned a lot about the Utes today and none of it was good.

I learned that it is far more likely that Utah played down to USU's level than USU improving.

Today was not an impressive one for the Utes.

Utah tends to do this...play up or down to its opponents' level. Oregon will be interesting. If they play like the did tonight, it's likely a 3 touchdown loss.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Um how is Oregon going to score 3 touchdowns? It isn't like Utah is playing some great team. They are coming to Eugene to play a team that I am starting to think is going to have to be lucky to go to a bowl game.

We may win next week, but I just don't think this is Utah's year. This is not a troll, but I think we are a lot like BYU last year. We are good enough that we are going to beat lesser teams and get away with mistakes against them but when we play anyone who is any good we are going to get beat like a drum. I think we could suffer lopsided losses to both TCU and BYU based on what I have seen so far.

I would also not be surprised to see us lose at Oregon. The cadets trouble me a bit as well. Fortunately, it may be that the rest of the conference is so bad this year that this is all I will have to worry about. Still think we are probably a 4 loss team, maybe as few as three. Maybe. Just too many problems on offense and a (so far) poor kicker.

I am not trying to patronize you or other Ute fans, but 8-4 9-3 with what you had to replace would be a pretty good year. If BYU or Oregon goes to the BCS and can go 9-3 next year I would be thrilled.

Well this is what most of us have been saying all summer. Just reiterating as it appears to be coming true. And you are right, it is tough to reload, particularly when QB is part of that. I have to say I am a little surprised how much trouble we seem to be having getting a yard when we need it. It tells me that either the line is not gelling or the play calling has gotten very predictable in those situations.

First time I heard Skip Kelley behind a mic was after the Boise State game and again yesterday. He seems like a lightweight. There was not anything specific that makes me say that, but it was just the feel of it from his body language to his vocabulary, to his overall demeanor. I think he is in way over his head.

I think we lose to Oregon, TCU, and BYU. But the BYU game is always unpredictable.

I'm surprised at this comment. This would have been a loss 3 years ago. KW made a few adjustments and got a good 4th quarter out of his team.

I wouldn't be surprised if they lose to Oregon, but I saw more positive than negative. At least if you exclude the kicking game.

Yeah I don't want to play that card quite yet, but it does seem that way. The deer in the headlights look for the whole BSU game did nothing to make me feel better. I haven't re-watched last nights game, and being at the game have no idea how confused he looked or didn't last night.

As neutral as I was on Mike B, it is pretty evident that he was a darn fine football coach. Chipster has a long ways to go. I said to my friend that goes to games with me and ldc last night that it was reminding me a lot of Crowton as HC of BYU, shortly after that a friend texted me the same message.

Maybe the really creative OCs have a harder time going from play caller to CEO?

All you people predicting a loss to Oregon I just don't get. Maybe I am just too down on Oregon still from the BSU debacle, but what have you seen from Oregon that makes you think they will beat Utah?

I am having a hard time finding 5 more wins for a bowl game. Soft D that gives up a lot of yards (my man crush on T3 not withstanding) no passing game, suspect running game, lots of penalties, things aren't pretty in thunder green and lightning yellow right now.

Oregon is not a good team. Utah is still unproven, I just dont think Masoli is going to be able to test Utahs corners. Utah wins by 7.

We're managing expectations. If Utah walks out of Autzen 3-0, we'll be pleasently surprised.

None of it was good? You weren't impressed by Cain's running ability? Or the effectiveness of the option? Or Jereme Brooks? How about the depth of our running game? How about the rushing defense?

How about not blowing a game that had all the indicators of a game that would be blown? Were you honestly NOT thinking that "this is one of those games?" By midway through the 3rd when nothing really seemed to be going well for the Utes and SJSU had momentum and was hanging around, it sure felt like this was going to be one of those head scratching losses.

Nope, the Utes found a way to a win by double digits a game which in the past they most likely would have found a way to lost...

                              Wow.

                              Nothing good at all.

You and mp ought to get together. You'd enjoy each other's negativity.
