  • Cowboy Grub Classic Payout

I read in S.I. this week that the payout for Oklahoma was around 2.5-3 million and for BYU it was 1.5.

I recall someone on CB saying it would be around 5 million for the Cougs. Anyone know how they could get their numbers so out of whack?

    Just curious.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

The schools got a cut of ticket and alcohol sales.

So what you are saying is that they were taking note of who bought the alcohol and what school they cheered for and in the end they gave that portion of the payout to their respective team.

I wonder if BYU accepted any of that dirty alcohol money.

No. BYU elected not to receive any portion of the alcohol sales.

Considering the Oklahoma ticket sales accounted for 2/3 of the revenue, that would make sense.

You're joking, right? Please tell me you're joking.

Next you're going to tell me the Church won't take tithing from my gambling winnings.

I actually made the whole thing up. I can't imagine why BYU would have estimated a $5 million dollar haul, considering that the contract was for a fixed payout from the beginning, OU 2.5 and BYU 1.5.

It takes tithing from the proceeds of pay-per-view porn. What's the problem?

I forgot about that. Looks like I inadvertantly gave more than 10% last year. Here's hoping the Church does refunds. :swear:

The $5 million estimate includes the tithing windfall from the throngs of people who will join the Church after being exposed to the missionary tool that is BYU Football. Since these were pre-game estimates you can probably double that figure in light of the victory.
