  • Blount done for year

Just got a text from a friend who produces the local news. Good for Oregon, I feel bad for the kid. Hopefully he gets his head on straight and can make some money in the NFL. He cost himself a lot of money.

Isn't there a hardship draft? Could he still get in on that?

There is a Supplemental draft for the NFL. It is in July. He's basically toast.

He didn't have one, he was a JC with 2 to play 2. But even if he did I doubt it could have been used due to him playing last night.

Good call by Oregon. I respect that decision.

Not unexpected and probably what he deserved.

Given the circumstances, I can't blame him for punching that snot nosed Boise State prick, either. I hope he rocks the NFL.

He's a dumbass and deserved to lose his season. I don't care what the kid said, you attack someone physically and you are lucky to just get suspended from school. If I'm a Boise cop, I would have tossed him into jail and charged him. If I'm Hout, I sue him and Nike University.

Why would he sue BYU? That doesn't even make sense.

HFN - in your honest opinion, how will this affect Oregon against Utah? From a Ute fan perspective, it never hurts to have a guy of that ability not play. I won't guarantee a win for the Utes, but he's a guy that I believe would have been a focal point of the Utah defense.

My honest opinion is I have no idea. I think it could be addition by subtraction. It could be the beginning of a total implosion. There are today some reports of resentment by teammates about Blount showing up fat for camp, but is that trying to put a silver lining on things?

There is talent in the backfield still, but there appears to be no offensive line, there seems to be a giant regression in QB play. Right now one would think Utah should be big favorites.

Ask me again after Purdue next week.

Will do. I appreciate your insights, as you are the Duck here.

I asked because from my perspective, the Oregon game should be a tough one for Utah because of the talent disparity between the Ducks and Utah's first two opponents.

If Boise State vs. Oregon wasn't a rivalry already, it'll now become one.

This will continue the pattern of Utah playing some recognizable schools in years when they are not very good.
