  • KSL Radio: Urban Meyer helped BYU coaching staff

Did anyone listen to the radio show?? Bronco mentioned Urban Meyer and Gary Patterson spent time with BYU's coaching staff to help prep them for the Oklahome game..

I was very surprised to hear Urban and I have to say.. I really like Gary Patterson... For him to do that in conference is very cool. I think this is very good to hear.. My hopes of a win went up .00099% now..

It's pretty funny how much coaches share notes with each other.

Bronco actually indicated he and Urban and the wives are friends. I was beat up on CB when the first year I indicated Bronco coached and was a lot like Urban.

I love it when Bronco lovers/Kyle Urban Ute haters have to face the fact Bronco doesn't hate like they do.

Bronco helped Patterson last year with preparation for Thursday night games. Looks like Patterson is repaying the favor.

Didn't Urban catch heat last year for helping the Utes prep for Alabama in the high fructose corn syrup bowl?

And I'm sure Bob Stoops got some help from his brother and Kyle Whittingham on BYU.

lol! high fructose corn syrup is also known as sugar, even though the bowl isn't called high fructose corn syrup. clever!

He definitely got help from his brother. Not sure about Kyle wanting to help Stoops though, given the fact that I think Utah should want BYU to win. An undefeated BYU and undefeated Utah playing in November could give either of those teams a very nice boost to make a bid for a legit BCS game against a legit opponent. It certainly helped Utah's bid having beaten a ranked BYU and a ranked TCU in November.

Thanks for explaining that. Now I understand why it wasn't funny.

I obtained part of the call's transcript:

Urban: "What we did was expect Oklahoma to drop at least 42 on us, and had a plan to score at least 49. Fortunately though, Stoops decided it would be best to have the highest scoring offense in college football history slow down their offense. Stare at the sidelines for ten seconds before each play. Allow the defense to get set. After all, if it ain't broken, why not try to fix it in the biggest game of the year?"

Bronco: "If we synergize the plan that we need to accomplish which is the plan to go into effect in order for the game to be carried out in a favorable method in our behalf, our preparation for the plan will ideally be under the umbrella of..."

Urban: (interrupting) "Maybe you can hope that Stoops tries something new, like having his players eat orange slices and Capri Suns while on the field, or maybe play tag with each other, instead of execute their actual offense. It's a big game, so Stoops is bound to come up with something stupid. Good luck."
