  • What I am missing...

In a poll on cougarboard, the question was asked--if the MoWest gained entry to the BCS, would you rather stay in the MoWest or go to the Pac-10 or Big 12? 5 to 1 votes say they would rather stay in the MoWest. Why? How? What?

BYU fans would rather be a top dog in a conference and play Wyoming, CSU and San Diego State on a weekly basis...then play against Oregon, UCLA, Arizona on a weekly basis? What? Seriously, for the life of me, that just makes no sense.

I assume you're talking about the MWC getting an auto bid? If that were the case, BYU would have a much easier time consistently getting to a BCS bowl than if they played in the Pac 10 or Big 12. That much seems obvious.

I thought this thread was an honest request for assessment. I was so happy for you, but then I open it up and see that you are still in denial.

lol! Good stuff Triple Dad. I was going to say that he's missing matching shoes and a decent looking sports coat. What a zinger that would have been!

Assuming both have BCS inclusion, it's not so crazy. I mean, if you had a choice, would you rather play in the Big East or the Big 12?

The power wave amongst BCS conferences changes every few years. Right now the hype is all about the SEC, but just five years ago an undefeated Auburn was left out of the MNC game. And ten years ago when the current BCS system was implemented, the ACC was all the rage.

If the MWC gets an auto-bid, that might mean annual money but it would still be an uphill battle for entry into the MNC game.

From a long-term standpoint though, annual money means more than the MNC game. And if you pump millions into the MWC schools, they WILL get better. The disparity between the haves and have nots is so great that the money makes a huge difference.

I could totally see the SDSU, UNLV, Wyomings of the conference becoming as good or better than the bottom tiers of the other BCS conferences.
