  • Public Mea Culpa

I just read through Robin's thread in the Town Hall and found the whole back story very interesting My only recollection of Robin from cougarboard was a bird avatar and being the only person I "knew" who participated in burning man. As I was reading that thread I received a private message commenting about how I seem to be different here than I was on CB.

With that preface, I feel like I need to apologize or at least submit a weak rationalization for my CB personality. I realized at the time and even more so now I was often a self-congratulatory prick on CB. Over time I felt like I was becoming more of a caricature of my moniker and less who I think I really am. Granted much of it was done to see how close I could get to the probation-suspension line with Bernard and El-Jefe, but too many of my posts were just to be a blowhard.

I'm trying to have my posts be more of my true feelings and less for entertainment value on CUF. Unfortunately, I still have too many innate prickish qualities so I can't fully escape that.

This isn't meant to be a false humility post to elicit any "I think your a good guy" follow up post. I just appreciate the opportunity for the fresh start over here and have really enjoyed the format, style and honesty of this board. Though the fact I am starting to like so many Utah fans is very disconcerting.

And as you are well aware, this is the first step towards apostasy. I bid you caution.

Hey someone just explained to me what the word really means last night. I had been using it wrong before.

Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

          I'll just say I think you're a good guy.

This post is a colossal mistake. Show no weakness.

Amen and amen. You need to make a lot more friends in high places before you can open up like that.

You would be surprised how far such a post would take an outcast like you.

Art Vandelay comes to CUF and within a week or two he is embraced warmly. Others come and go and can never quite figure out how to make friends.

I am not surprised at all by the 2 posters that have chimed in against Art Vandelay's post. Where is Tex when we need him to round out the group?

I liked Art Vandelay before it was fashionable to like him, unlike the rest of you bandwagoning sheep.

It's great to have you here, Art. I have especially enjoyed having the input from a current bishop. That's a valuable perspective to have in the mix.

True... but that was just because, or maybe in spite of, I could never tell you and BYU71 apart on CB. It seriously took me 2 years to be able to remember which one was the actuary golfer and which one was the Crowton defending complainer of BYU's home schedule
