PARK CITY -- A Park City bicyclist is dead after an accident on Deer Valley Drive near Aerie Drive.
Park City police say the 22-year-old cyclist and his roommate were on the way home from dinner just before 10 p.m. Wednesday when the man crashed. His roommate was riding in front and didn't see what happened.
The biker who crashed was taken to University Medical Center, where he died of his injuries. He wasn't wearing a helmet.

    That is too bad.

I never ride without a helmet.

Last night and the end of the local group ride (I had to go to scouts so I missed it), on the way backt to the shop, someone pulled out right in front of one of the better cyclists and he (the guy on the bike) t-boned the truck. Sheared the front fork right off the bike and his body put a good dent in the trucks fender. Guess he was ok, but I am sure he is really hurting today.

    Be careful out there.

Sad story. I never ride wihtout a helmet either. I have previously shared the time I was hit by a car and was saved from serious head injury by my helmet. They really should be worn all the time.
      PLesa excuse the tpyos.

I never even think about it anymore but when helmets first came out they were so heavy and uncomfortable. This was tough to adjust to after riding without for the first couple of years I rode but it's been a real positive change.

I went through the same process. WHen I was hit I was wearing one fo the eraly Bell helmets, the kind that were white with orange reflective tape and were huge and heavy. I hated it. ABsolutely hated it. But I was communitg from San Francisco to Mill valley a few days a week at the time and my wife told me if I didnt wear the helmet she would not allow me to commute. SO I promised to wear it without fail and thank goodness i had it on that particualr day. I was convereted immediatyl and have never ridden without one since that day.
          PLesa excuse the tpyos.

Or perhaps never jump into the street unless you look first, regardless of the direction. ON a bike ALWAYS ride with traffic. ALWAYS.

Dang, sad. I have a friend who was biking with his dad. They stopped for a traffic light and his dad slipped on something in the road while putting his foot down. He fell over to the side and his head on the curb. Died right there in the road. A bit of a freak accident but still an example of what can happen when you don't wear your helmet.
