it's really funny to listen to them talk about BYU heading into the game. Do you know how many callers want to talk about the unfairness of the "missionary advantage"?

Did you call in and point out how that advantage has worked against Top 25 competition the last number of years?

What I don't understand is why other teams don't understand that they can take advantage of this advantage just like BYU does!

Send your freshman off on a Peace Corp stint to a third-world country for two years.

Bring them back after they've spent 24 months not really working out or eating well or even playing football.

Voila! Instant advantage of having 26-year-old players on your team!

Oklahoma should start this program right away.

I wish somebody would bring up this point.

If Bob Stoops could take his 18 or 19 year old players, some right before their freshman seasons, some going into their sophomore seasons and basically send them back home (let alone to a third world country) for two years, having nothing to do with the program - stop lifting weights or even touching a football, would he choose to do it?

I'm going out on a limb to say he would rather keep them in the program and contributing to the team.

What is the "missionary advantage," really? The average age of BYU's starters is 23 instead 22? Oooh. Impressive.

Meanwhile, so many media blowhards like to point out that BCS teams are bigger and better and faster and stronger because those schools receive more money, which translates into better equipment, better facilities, better conditioning.

            My heart is breaking.

I'm on your side here. I'm just pointing out that there is no advantage to having these returned missionaries on the team.
