I'm not sure if CUF follows the example of US Miliary with a don't ask, don't tell policy. Since joining this forum I haven't been perceptive enough to decipher which school many posters cheer for when BYU plays Utah. For those who remember me from cougarboard they know I always cheer for BYU but agree with many Ute fans when they complain about how whiny, self-righteous, and generally uninformed many BYU fans are. http://www.cougarboard.com/noframes/...tml?id=4598906

When the Cougs and Utes meet up on November 28th who will you be cheering for?
    148
    BYU
    75.68%
    112
    Utah
    24.32%
    36

I obviously cheer for Utah and I also agree with Ute fans when they complain about how whiny, self-righteous, and generally uninformed many BYU fans are.

I screwed up the colors on the poll, BYU gets the red line and Utah the red. Oh well, just another example of me knowing absolutely nothing computer related.

I attended both schools, BYU for undergrad and Utah for law. Despite my family having zero ties to BYU, and plenty of ties to USU and the U, I have always been a BYU fan. My dad used to take me to BYU games once and a while as a kid, but he's sort of a fan of both schools. He did yell out a "woooooo!" when Beck found Harline in the endzone at the last second.

When I was in law school, I had access to the free student section tickets. In 2004, when the U was going (and went) undefeated, I didn't attend a single game. I did, however, watch almost all of the games and cheered them on through the Fiesta Bowl. During the game in Provo that year, I was seriously conflicted. BYU sucked major that year, and it was so horribly snowy that no one could do anything. I certainly didn't want BYU to get blown out, but I wasn't sure whether I really wanted such a vastly superior U team, one that carried the hopes of the conference on its back, to lose either. The end result was pretty perfect: 3-0. BYU wasn't exactly embarrassed (except that it didn't score), and it held a nationally ranked team to 3 points. The U got to go on to a BCS bowl for the first time ever, hopefully opening the door for BYU some day soon.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Was this hilarity intentional? Trust me, Ute fans are ever bit as clueless as BYU fans. When blood/alchohol levels are factored in the average Ute fan is far more whiny and uninformed than the average BYU fan. BYU fans will always win the self-righteous title.

              Wasn't the 3-0 game in 2003?

Yes Falafel is doing what most true Cougar fans would like to do, forgetting large chunks of the Crowton era. 2004 was the year Alex Smith and Urban both earned themselves millions of dollars. At least one of them has shown he deserves his paycheck.

You're probably right. The Fiesta Bowl was 2004. Same season.

This makes it sound like he is a bandwagon fan, switching allegiances based on who is good at the time.

Is your dad a bandwagon fan, falafel?

I know there are clueless Ute fans, but I think the number of BYU fans that cheer for the Coogs just because it is the Church's school makes for a much larger segment of the fan base that don't know the first thing about sports outside of Provo. There are plenty of very knowledgeable Cougar fans, including most here, but you can't ignore the large proportion of zoobs in your fan base.

Whiny Ute fans have alcohol for an excuse of cluelessness and the annoyance factor.

What excuse is there for Y fans?

I knew there were more Y fans on here, but I thought we Utes would at least crack 30%
