Early to middle of the season, SEC looked awesome. Late in the season, several OOC games exposed the SEC.

Wyo over Tenn
Clemson over South Carolina
GT over UGA
Wake over Vandy
LSU struggling with Troy

OOC, the SEC has ZERO big wins. They are 4-7 against OOC top 40 (according to my model) teams. Those four are Florida State, Clemson, Tulsa, Miami. Their best OOC win is Florida over #22 Florida State.

Just a month ago I thought the SEC had 4 top 10 teams. Now I'm really questioning them.

I think Utah has a decent chance. And I think OK probably ought to be favored in the championship game.

Yes, it was shocking when Tennessee lost to Wyoming. They were having such a sweet season up until that point.

All the voters that had Tennessee ranked really high probably felt very stupid that day.

You are consistently pro-BCS, even vis-a-vis BYU. It's a form of self-loathing. I'm remembering one of your funniest comments ever: You like wearing BYU stuff in public because you imagine people will think you went to Yale.

FAIL.

Tennessee was not ranked at that point, obviously. They were a 6 loss team with a disappointing season. Still, they finished towards the middle of the pack in their division. And any SEC team losing at home to #104 Wyoming is a bad sign. The point is that the SEC had a fury of suprising OOC games late in the season.

I think your assumption is flawed.

Again, I am not aware of any BCS conference that thinks that from top to bottom, all its teams are better than every non-BCS team.

So I am not exactly sure what was exposed. Are you suggesting that the entire country really believed that Venderbilt was a powerhouse, as opposed to having a Cinderella run this year? It was also already obvious that UGa was not a top 10 team, either.

I guess I just don't get what the big revelation is here.

I am not pro-BCS. I am pro-reality.

I would like the BCS to be gone so that we could have a 16-team playoff.

These anti-BCS yokels are the equivalent of the BYU knuckleheads that try to claim that BYU is the Harvard of the West, comparing two things that aren't in the same league. Yes, BYU has some good classes and some great students. BYU accomplishes much on its own merit. But it isnt Ivy League and will never be Ivy League.

The non-BCS vs BCS conferences....the top tier in both groups.....they will never be the same and are not in the same boat.

This is the wrong approach to taking down the BCS.

The best argument should simply be that the public wants a playoff.

You're losing it, dude. This post has nothing to do with BCS vs non-BCS.

The first two months of the season the SEC was 19-5 OOC. They were considered the best conference in the nation.

The last month and a half they went 7-6 OOC, including some bad losses.

We can look back and see that the SEC had nearly zero quality wins and was probably extremely overrated.

OK, I guess we can all see that now.

Well, I suppose Florida and Alabama will do poorly in their bowl games, then.

You don't know where you're going with this, do you? I'll let you off the hook.

You must not be that familiar with the SEC, its teams or its fans. There is not a single SEC fan, coach or player that would think Tenn could ever lose to Wyoming.

there is nowhere to go with it.

your point is not revelatory and nobody here was arguing that the teams you mentioned are title contending teams. some of them had decent seasons, some had poor seasons.

again, like I said originally, not sure why you think you are being additive with your thread.

Are you going to start a thread revealing that the Big East wasn't great this year? That would likely stop the presses.

Agreed. Every fan of an SEC team that I've ever met felt that there is no team outside the SEC that could compete for a title, let alone a winning record, in the the SEC.

That said, I'm happy that the Utes get a shot at a terrific Alabama team. I am not expecting a win for Utah, but I think that if the Utes play their best game of the year on both sides of the ball, they have a chance to make it close or surprise everyone with a win.

x10 if the game is in Knoxville.
