  • Aiono won't join Utes this season

This here is the number one reason why I don't put much into J.C. recruits in February.

    http://www.sltrib.com/utahutes/ci_12984569

It looks as though two other J.C. recruits for the Utes won't be there when camp starts because they will be finishing up school work. I am not sure what type of impact the other two were expected to give to the Utes. I do know that there were many people expecting big things out of Aiono though.

I have also heard that it is still up in the air if Lee Aguirre will make it there this fall. Many people believe that if he makes it to Provo he is going to be the starting corner at BYU.

Magee may play his way into the 2-deep at WR, but I ddin't expect much from him this season, even before this news.

Lacy could compete for the other starting corner position. After Stanford, there's three or four players that could all win the job. We're a better football team this season with Lacy than we are without him.

Guys like Pela and Riley will help soften the blow here. If Aiono makes it to Utah in January, he'll be a two to play two guy.

It's amazing that with all the resources available, even at the JC level, these kids can't get their act together enough to make the grade.

What are the chances he never makes it?

By the way I have been saying it all along he is not that good of a player and is very overrated by the recruiting services, I do not think he will be a huge loss for Utah they are very deep on the D-line.

Out of 5 potential candidates, I'd hope that one of them will work out.

Well, you also said that Kruger was overrated, didn't you?

I agree that there is enough depth at D-line for the Utes to not have to worry about Aiono. Like D'nF pointed out, it's hard to believe that kids can't make grades. Is an education really not that important to some of them?

Yep and I still believe Kruger is overrated. Also Aiono lost his starting spot at Snow, the best JC player in the country does not have that happen. But the kid he lost his spot too was kicked out of school for pulling a gun on someone. Mike Laloni who is up at Utah in my opinion has better skills than Aiono, but he is a bit undersized.

Why do you think Kruger is overrated?

I dont think he does anything spectacular and his measurables don't jump out at you. I just think he's smart and solid all around and does everything well, kind of like Weddle.

                    Why is Kruger overrated, skills-wise?

The Ravens coaching staff apparently disagrees. I'm guessing they would be more accurate in their assessment.

Because he said "Thanks but no thanks byu".

I don't think his last name is Palin. Maybe he just said, "No F'ing Way, BYU!". That sounds more like it.

In this article about Aiono not coming, is the Maxwell Lacey kid the corner that played with Lee Aguirre this past year?

That is right. Black is the kid that many expect to be starting opposite of R.J.
