Last year before the season started Tom Holmoe was on the radio and said he was in negotiations with several big name BCS opponents that would excite the BYU fanbase, and some that we'd never played before.

Fast Forward one year and it appears that not just them, but most Non-BCS programs are having a difficult time scheduling opponents that aren't demanding a 2 for 1 or that simply just won't do a home and home.

Last year he specifically mentioned Nebraska and Auburn by name.....but we know how the Nebraska one turned out. They demanded a 2 for 1, so BYU told them to pound sand with the local Omaha Beat Writer reminisicing with the A.D. there on a fishing trip about how they couldn't believe that programs like BYU had the gall to demand a home and home with a program with steeped in tradition like NU... and so NU went and signed 2 for 1's with Fresno and Wyoming.

I haven't heard anything on the Auburn front and if negotiations ever progressed.

Holmoe said on the radio this past week that soon they'll begin re-negotiations to get Arizona State back on the schedule as both programs agreed to re-visit doing this after agreeing to cancel the planned 09 and '11 series.

So at what point does BYU (and others in the same boat) have to cave in and start signing 2 for 1's?

I really don't see why BYU won't do 2-1 or even in the right scenarios 1-0. Obviously we wouldn't want to do those exclusively, but get 1-2 name brand schools on the schedule every year and then playing Central Southern State Tech FCS team/Utah State isn't a big issue.

Nebraska isn't good enough anymore to be demanding 2 for 1's. Caving on 2 for 1's is admitting you are a lesser program. I can see doing it for Oklahoma or Texas, but not for Nebrasksa or Iowa State. BYU doesn't win OOC road games, so taking a 2 for 1 all but guarantees at least two losses in the series.

As a fan, I would like to see them do it. There are only 2 conference games I get excited about anymore. If we didn't play Air Force, Wyoming, San Diego State, UNLV, Colorado State, or New Mexico in the next 10 years I wouldn't miss it.

I read the article. What stood out to me is that the columnist said the HC prohibited caffeine. That was new to me. I need to go back and read my Honor Code.
